I ran into a math problem today that said something like: Jimmy does 21,667 loops with his yoyo in 3 hours. How many could he do in 8?
Which got me to thinking, is that at all possible?
It sounds crazy, but that’s a hair over two loops a second.
Looping is pretty fast–unless your me–so the rate seems possible.
But, I seriously doubt anyone–or any yoyo–could keep it up for 3 hours.
Much less for 8. Which would be 57778.6666667 loops in case you’re wondering.

What math book supplied this question?

I don’t think it’s physically possible.

Ok, this is actually quite funny… the reason?
They took a real record to get that number.
21,663 is the number of loops in 3 hours, set by “Fast Eddy” McDonald in 1990. They were alternating inside/outside loops.

That is 2 loops a second which sounds about right.
21667/3=7222.33 loops an hour
7222.33/60=120.372 loops a minute
120.372/60=2 loops a second

It’s that last ‘partial loop’. < The .6666667th of a loop.
That’s the one that causes permanent Brain damage.
No kidding…

yeah i hear that last two thirds is the hardest part of landing all those loops.
My brain hurts; and I was a Mathematics major in college too.
You guys are all loopy. :
It’s a math problem it is not realistic haha. I do not think it is possible tho.

I’m not going to solve it for you but it’s quite easier than you think. Using the information provided, You just oughta find out how much he loops it in a hour and times that by 8

Nice! I had no idea. I’ll have to tell the class today.
It’s not from a book. I’m actually not sure what the source is to be honest. If I can find out I’ll let you know.

I was talking about the 8 hours doing loops. I did read the thread. Thank you have a nice day.

This is why I love having guys like Kyo/yoyodoc/Yossarian on here. So much yoyo-history knowledge that I would have absolutely no idea about. ;D
