Admit it. You are still thinking about this. Haha jk got you.
friends@yoyoexpert.com instantly got dumped into my spambox after a few of these
did you know the snapback is the smoothest yoyo someone has thrown in 12 years?
Yeah I fear most of the emails come off as really spammy.
This got me recently, too ![]()
I unsubscribed more than once and still get them frequently.
I refuse to believe that the real Andre would send this level of guilt trip to me, a level of guilt trip I had previously only seen in my late grandmother. And to try to get me to buy an out of stock deepest state.
Yeah, I get em too. Andre’s really been trying to get in touch with me. ![]()

I can’t say I’m pleased with the direction that YYE’s advertising has taken. I like receiving promotional emails when they take the form of a newsletter that keep you up to date with what’s going on, especially sales and new releases… but these are just spam, and filled with ugly social engineering too. Why not email me when there’s a sale? Why not offer me 10% off on my next order for a limited time?
It’s sad how unusable the store is getting too. I can’t look at anything without getting rid of this annoying popup whose only purpose is to sign you up to a mailing list. The option that you select is irrelevant.
agreed unfortunately. more and more it just feels like the direction most commercialism is/has been headed where it’s completely detached and robotic feeling when it’s even relevant
I mean maybe he secretly has one in stock.. maybe.. well…probably not…
That is certainly possible… The statement I quoted for example
It is very much in the room possibilities that the snapback is the smoothest yo-yo that person has thrown in 12 years
You just have to recognize the possibility that the person making that statement had not thrown another yo-yo in the past 12 years.
And the last yo-yo that they threw that long ago, was a vibrating mess.
So 12 years later, the person throws a yo-yo that was much smoother. So that would make that statement totally correct.
Squirrel thought, what would have been the most vibey and bad yoyo this person could have thrown that was brand new? Maybe some cheap plastic yo-yos from yyf or Duncan? There’s 2 ways to think about this, that the person hasn’t just played yoyo in 12 years, or they haven’t bought one in 12 years. Either way, they had to be living under a rock. I mean, 2014 had a lot or really neat yo-yos come out around this time. There were plenty of options, but anyway, what was the worst mainstream yoyo they could have chosen, but it still would have been super disappointing?
Realistically, some hot mess from the dollar store
All the feedback here is greatly appreciated! Many have replied to the email with the same thoughts (and we do read them!)
Marketing (and social media) are both kind of the necessary evil of running a business and there is always a balancing act to doing enough to survive while also not being annoying! We completely stopped doing email marketing and kind of jumped in the deep end (with help) and I totally get it as a consumer myself that things come off spammy as we are building a system, learning, tweaking, etc.
The hard part too is there are very different audiences and it takes time to learn how to approach and make something that works depending on where people are coming from.
Definitely unsubscribe if you find it isn’t helpful - and I’ll take this feedback to the team helping and will continue to improve it! ![]()
PS: We do have another special color Deepest States in the works at the moment!
Honestly I’ve been liking the emails. Even if it’s not a product I’m going to buy, it’s still like “heck yeah, yo-yos”.
And often, it is a product I’m wanting to buy!
The funny thing is I already have a deepest state. I clicked on it because I was curious about the diameter and didn’t want to dig out my calipers. Still getting daily, sometimes more than once a day emails trying to get me to buy the out of stock product. The one today says “one click from being yours”. If I didn’t already have one I would be much more bothered by the teasing nature of daily being reminded I couldn’t buy it lol. I didn’t really want to unsubscribe because I would appreciate real email notice on product launches and real back in stock reminders but daily please buy this out of stock item. I guess I’ll just unsubscribe from it all.
Would be nice if there were more than one mailing list depending on what one wants. e.g., one for restocks, new products. Or a way to check or uncheck categories (e.g., the creepy ones looking at what we’re browsing). Looks like YYE is using Klaviyo, which allows subscriber segmenting.
Why? Or in what manner?
