I just want to hang out and read yoyo forum arguments until my brain disintegrates, nothing is better in this life and I will never stop.

This conversation is absolutely nuts at this point lmao and I guess working from home gives me wayyy too much free time to come in here to explain why you’re extremely incorrect, and since you’re unable/unwilling to grasp what I’ve been saying and it’s likely futile, here I go anyways:

It is NOT like “telling them to add honey walnut shrimp or they’re irrelevant” it’s literally “you USED to have honey walnut shrimp and then you just straight up stopped doing that for whatever reason” lol

This is just ODs acid trip years keeping to the Beatles theme.

Edit: not sure how but the forum combined my comments and deleted what I originally said. Ohh well.

Original:

In reply to the Beatles analogy’s. Anyone who says OD used to be better and they just want to see them enter there former glory is saying that the Beatles sgt pepper lonely heart club was a mistake and they are wrong.

The fat tire is ODs sgt peppers.

y’all should make a separate one drop debate thread if i’m being honest, more contained. that or we need an argument topic for the forum lol

Dude, but if One Drop doesn’t slow their roll and go back to making outdated competition yoyos then Yoko Ohno will totally break them up! Which model will be their Yoyo Oh No?! :scream:

I’d say that the reasons have been made clear over and over.

But the reality is that they didn’t used to make honey walnut shrimp.

They built their business making dishes that were popular at the time and developed their recipes and preparation to a level the they don’t believe that anyone matches. They continue to perfect this craft, with the support of new and old customers who really like the cuisine that they believe that they can make best.

Meanwhile, the market expanded to accommodate different tastes that our old school restaurant does not want or need to cater to.

Everyone in this scenario is winning.

This is the context I have been missing. Because I couldnt for the life of me understand why people keep complaining and wanting comp yoyos from onedrop when its pretty clear that they are content making other stuff.

When I see older stuff like the format c I didn’t think this was like one of the best comp yoyos or anything but maybe it was at the time.

So yall are just sad that od used to make great comp yoyos and they dont anymore? Makes sense I guess.

I think yoyofriends makes great yoyos and it’s pretty telling that the biggest nitpick anyone can find with them is that you might need a tool to get the bearing off - especially when they actually sell a beginner yoyo, which, if you aren’t a beginner, why are you buying a one drop? And if you’re a beginner, don’t you have a bearing tool?

So no, I would not pay extra for USA machining. Or Canadian. I would, however, pay for YYFr and FPM’s choices and their advantages.

I think this is the whole point that some people is not understanding, here the critics are only about the fact that we all actually LOVE and CARE about One drop and it’s sad to see that a company that had the most amazing yoyos and also the most amazing colourways is a bit “step down” or “left behind” by the years, without take in account that their team was one of the best all over with seriously technical skilled players back then (veeeery much less now I have to say)

I always dreamt to have Code 1 and 2, the Dietz and many more models, I was in love with the project 2 from the first moment I throwed one, all those yoyos back then where absolutely competition beasts and some of the best product all over the market and so many brands get inspired by them and thats why it is sad to see them “not evolving”.

Obviously they can do whatever they want but we also should be free to criticise a company, we are yoyoers and they make yoyo for yoyoers, it fit I think.

I think it was much worse if there wasn’t any dialogue or any critique but just let them continue releasing Fat tires like nothing is happening, silence destroy evolution and growth, do-goodism is one of the plague of our era, critique if well spoken can help individuals to get better on what they do and there is anything bad in it.

From one of my favourite movies ever (Whiplash) there is a simple but very effective sentence said by Fletcher:

“There are no two words in the English language more harmful than “good job””

For how much I love One Drop and what did in the past I am totally in agreement with @KirbyRobot @SR1 (and others), what they saying should be taken as words from someone that loved and love this company and probably wish the best for them and to enjoy their products again

I find it interesting that people can not accept One Drops decission.

The fact that they have the capabilities to make anything but dont is inspiring.

They have a formula for success that they are not willing to compromise. Based on years and reputation.

The current Meta of 1A competition Yoyos do not check their boxes. Even though their yoyos may have been competitive at one point.

Yes they are loosing out on a economic demographic, but are staying true to themselves.

Endearing really.

I found it funny that Gingie compiling other peoples thoughts and summarizing them, resulted in folks shutting down that thread.
