Loop 720 not responding

I’m an intermediate 2a player being able to do wrap combos, tanglers, and all the basic 2a tricks proficiently. I normally use iYoYo sunrise and C3 Initiators and wanted to try some more loopers so I purchased a pair of orange Japan edition 720s which stock reminds me of unmodded raiders with their response which was pretty shocking due to people saying they’re too responsive out of the box, is there anything I can do? I tried using yyj thick lube and Yomega brain lube with neither of them helping. Both 720s have red spacers.

Are the bearings locked up and the string is spinning on them like a fixed axle?? I have like 6 pairs of 720’s (I went on a little buying kick lol) and they’re almost annoyingly responsive. I switched to the red and blue spacer combo to help sleep a little better while I was working on the Tangler.

Edit: i know the probability for both bearings to be “bad” is crazy. But it’s not common to hear a 720 is low response

Both the bearings feel good and spin for quite a while when spinning on a chopstick and when the yoyo is spinning

Honestly anything I can think of should only apply to one as a defect, because the same defect in both would be astronomical. The only thing that I can think of that applies to both is strings. But if you can 2a, then you already know strings. Interesting indeed.

Yeah I’ve tried quite a few strings already I might try kitty fat later and see if that works right now I’m pretty stumped though

Are they brand new or used? If they are used, the starburst could be worn.

I’m surprised that you tried thick lube and the bearings still spin for a long time? How much did you use? I usually use 3 drops equally spaced around the circumference. A little goes a long way, and the bearing shouldn’t be able to be flicked for a long spin after; the spin should stop pretty quickly.

I kind of worded it wrong I meant before using the lube the bearings spin for a long time

Hmmm. Baffling. Even with a dry bearing those things should be quite responsive.

Agreed Steve. When I use the iYoYo slackie string, I run clean bearings and they’re still crazy responsive.

Also however, I tighten the stuffins out of my 720’s

Yeah it is quite baffling with every single stock 720 I’ve tried it’s too responsive, I might contact yoyofactory about it and see if they know the problem and how to fix it.

I asked on the r/throwers subreddit and someone said it may be a tolerance issue with the spacers so I emailed YoYoExpert and YoYoFactory to see if that’s the issue

Hopefully that yields some results. Let me know if you want to borrow anything to try a little swap diagnostics. I can send a full set of spacers and bearings or an extra set of 720’s and you can swap or measure whatever you need

If I can’t get this sorted out I’ll definitely take you up on this offer

Some runs had bad spacers. That is probably the issue.

That’s what I figured out yoyoexpert is sending me new ones
