looking for a quieter bearing

My stock YYJ bearing’s super loud. It’s fine when I’m at home, but it’s way harder to pull off yoyoing in public places with a screeching bearing. I’ve tried cleaning it/lubing it/etc. but it’s still pretty loud. I dunno if it’s my one in particular or if this is just the nature of YYJ stock bearings, but I think I’m ready to invest in a quieter one.

Anyone have any bearing recommendations?

EDIT: oh yeah. I’ve got a YYJ Hitman (that’s a size C bearing).

It’s normal for a bearing to sounds like that…

I heard the 10ball bearing is quiet… But never tried one…

10 ball bearings are extremely quiet, and solid. Just make sure you throw a bit of lube in them once it’s broken in, or else it can eventually become a bit loud.

Other silent bearings I’ve used are SPYY’s bearings, as well as H-spins plastic/steel hybrids.

The easiest of these to get a hold of would be the 10ball though. I’d definitely try one out!

Do you know where I can get any of those?

Also, how does the 10 ball bearing stand up against General-Yo’s AIGR bearing?

Here you go!

I did some research. I think I’m gonna get an AIGR bearing. Thanks guys.

How does plastic and steel help?

It probably absorbs vibrations better

… I would say not to get a 10 ball bearing.

The more balls in the bearing makes more friction. This makes for shorter spin times. So if i were you i would just buy a new bearing. They aren’t verry expensive.

  1. Good job responding to a thread I resolved two weeks ago.

  2. Spin time is not the same thing as noise.

  3. Thanks for the physics info. You should consider being a mechanical engineering major. I love it.
