Kuntosh Questionaire

A few polls below, but what’s the hype over the Kuntosh? It does look like a good, comfortable yoyo. But why do they seldom sell used for less than $100 (og or 5kQV), if you can even find one? And if that’s the case, why isn’t OD pumping out more?

What SEs do you use most often on them?

  • Flat Caps
  • Spikes
  • Domes
  • ULs

Which version do you prefer (comment why)?

  • Kuntosh (blasted finish)

You can only have one. Which one and why?

  • Kuntosh
  • Top Deck

Ive played both. They werent for me. Nothing in the play really stood out.
I think they have some history as a remake of an old yoyo so that gives them collectibility but thats not all some people really liked the 5000qv.

Love brass ULs, brass dietz and disks in my Kuntosh.

Hard to pick a favourite but I think the mini disks have been in the longest.

Not necessarily for the weight, I just love the look of the disks or the brass in, which genuinely makes me play better

I have every OD model and the blasted 5000QV may be the most premium feeling throw OD has ever made. Just has some kind of extra magic.

PS-I like the OG Kuntosh with heavy SEs and the QV with light SEs.

You were right about the Hendiatris… sigh. If I can get past that price tag, I might be looking for a Kuntosh.

I have both the regular and 5000qv, I much prefer the 5kqv since it feels like it’s got that extra oomph. I only use ULs in both and most ODs.

Without a doubt, anti yo hearts for me, perfect weight and they look so good :innocent::green_heart::blue_heart:

I only have the Kuntosh 5000QV and I 10000% see what the hype is about. The thing is incredible

Regarding re-runs, I don’t know if this is the current stance, but the question was asked a year ago.

Thanks for digging that up. That’s disappointing. I know Sonny designed it - did OD have to collaborate for part of the production (e.g. blasting, anno, etc)?

Looks like the last restock for the OG was six years ago, and five years ago for 5kQV. Maybe they aren’t fully aware of how much interest there still is. Yet.

Not sure about the production situation and I don’t know if that is the final word, or just their position at the time.

FWIW:

I know if there were ever another run I would absolutely be down.

It worked with the Parlay recently. Here’s to hoping

Edit: I was about to send my email to OD, then I looked at my previous email about the Parlay from summer of last year. I got a similar response to the one above - “Kuntosh are tricky because they are a collaboration but we will make them again if that becomes possible.”

can’t remember if you said you had a kamuraiju, but if not, would that be an alternative to the kuntosh worth exploring?

i think kamuraiju is better than kuntosh
for me kuntosh is mid, hollow feel for me
i have own 4+ OG kuntosh and end up getting rid of them every time. never own QV though

kamuraiju play like project 1. really good yoyo

I’m personally looking for my last 1A yoyo, so I’m being picky.

The Kamuraiju definitely looks super similar in shape. I checked it out before, and it being midsized and having the groves in the catch zone turned me off a little in this case. That said, the Reboot has both of those, and I love it. The biggest thing holding me back is that I’m looking for a Saturday Market, which I’m almost sure OD stopped doing before the Kamu released. If I wasn’t specifically l after a really cool looking throw, I’d give it a try.

Right now I’m leaning toward a SM Free Solo.

Thanks everyone for all the input so far!

This dude has a 5000QV for sale by the way:

I have both a Free Solo and a Kuntosh 5QV… I think you’ll be just as happy with the Free Solo.
