The stock bearing suddenly became too loud today, so I swapped it for a pixel bearing. The pixel is also not particularly quiet, but at least not as loud as the stock bearing suddenly became.
I think if i would have cleaned the stock bearing, it would be fine again too.
I got some compressed air and when my bearings do that I just blow them out and it seems to work quite well. Just unscrew it, take the string off the bearing and blow it out with the air canister, spinning it up pretty good and it usually solves it. For me at least when my bearings get super loud, I found there is some string fuzz/thread/string dust that gets in the bearing somehow.
Ah thnx, good idea. I normally clean them with lighter fuel…
I have compressed air at home, but only use it to dry them after cleaning. Will try out to blow them, when they get noise.
Yea I do that also maybe once a month or two but it’s such a pain, this way I just unscrew it, blow it out, put the string back, screw it back together and done. It seems to be fuzz from the yoyo string that causes that rather than like dirt build up in the bearing, I found if it’s like gunk or grime the bearing becomes responsive and that’s the sign it needs a lighter fluid soak
After a long hiatus I returned to this wonderful world of bi-metals. I picked up a Numen, Hinemosu, Overclocker, and… of course, a 28s Klondike. They are each fantastic throws but, after having each in rotation, I find that the Klondike really stands out to me.
I decided to plug ‘Klondike’ into the YYE search and found this thread. It was great to see everyone affirming what I felt about this yoyo. Almost makes it feel even more special.
So, given that (a) this is practically my favorite yoyo at the moment, (b) I am a few months behind the curve, and (c) this thread seems to have died down… I was curious if people are still rocking their Klondikes? Or, what has replaced it in your rotation?
