Klondike-posting Thread: Post/discuss your CLYW Klondikes!

You really need the tiffany blue version.
Its interesting to observe the influence of rolex brand in fashion. Rolex came up with a watch in tiffany blue color in 2020, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual. Patek copied and launched the nautilus tiffany in 2021. And suddenly tiffany blue is everywhere.

Bit the bullet and ordered one.

I absolutely do not disagree :joy:

Would love to cop one of those and the Rewind fade eventually but I think 6 is good for now :skull:

You absolutely love to see it. Enjoy it king :sunglasses:

Wasn’t really sure about the Hulk smash when I first ordered it, but it was the only one available, so I just went with it. Since it’s come, though, I’ve really been digging it a lot. Yoyo is phenomenal regardless of color though!

I wonder why I can’t find any (e.g., review) videos about the Klondike on YouTube?

By the way, after realizing that it gets enormous praise here on YYE, I decided that my first bi-metal would be a Klondike. I ordered it a few days ago. :star_struck:

(this is the only mention i found https://youtu.be/Q7FQbkNxSp0?si=uDMYP9i_WEKmUWbd&t=697 at “The Definitive Yoyo”)

I couldn’t seem to find any video reviews of it yet either, but there are a lot of written responses people have given it here at YYE, especially Gingie’s tier list reviews here: Non-Video Gingie Reviews & Tierlist - #133 by KirbyRobot and a thread on it here:
Tell me about the klondike - #22 by SR1

I’m right there with you though and ordered a Klondike over the weekend in Tiffany Mint . What colorway did you choose? Would love to see a pic of it when it comes in!

I don`t know if the BB version was still available at the time i ordered, but i found this blue / golden version even more appealing than the bb.

I don’t think BB was available when I got mine either but the Clareview Station looks awesome as well, great choice! Hope you really enjoy it!

CLYW - Klondike. This is the best color.
Pics don´t do justice. Its not yellow, its gold on a very dark blue.

Ah I always thought it was a black body and wasn’t the biggest fan of the blue rims on black, but I think it person it probably looks much better.

That looks so much better than the website photos.

It`s finally here. It feels even better than expected. Kind of like cheating :joy:
Its just too good. I only can compare it to the Pyro, the Superstar 2024 and the OD Cascade… but i feel this is such a huge upgrade from those.

The way it binds… how stable it is on the string… the way it sounds… the weight… the size, shape… everything feels soo god about this. The next Yoyo i will buy will maybe only be another Klondike too

Got off to a rocky start with the bearing and response being semi responsive and coming up randomly, but after cleaning and lubricating the bearing and replacing the snow tires with flowable silicone we’re cruising!

Super smooth, powerful throw! I was worried for a bit there. Genuinely wondered if the Klondike just wasn’t for me, but it’s much better now that it responds and plays properly despite my less than optimal silicone job

*Edit: guess I spoke too soon. I went to throw it right after posting this and it started playing semi responsive again even though I cleaned and lubed the bearing today and it was playing perfect before and during yoyo club. I’m really starting to wonder what’s going on here.

CLYW bearings come prelubed so when you add lube it only gums up the bearing more and causes it to behave more responsively, I replace most of my CLYW bearings upon getting them since they’re just too lubed for my taste anyways. Swap it out for something else IMO, you’ll be better off.

Good points! That’s probably why it was semi responsive initially. I cleaned it with mineral spirits today which should theoretically have cleared out the lube from CLYW, and then lubed it myself after cleaning it. I initially did that because it felt like there was something gravely in the bearing, but I did try swapping it out with a good bearing from my Grasshopper and it performed well, I just don’t have a spare at the moment. I think based on my luck with this bearing that I’m just gonna get a replacement bearing and go from there. Any bearings you’d recommend?

I had to swap out the bearing for an NSK. I didn’t change the response pads but I did switch to Nytro + string that made a huge difference. I also wasn’t that impressed out of the box

First thing I do with all my new yoyo is immediately silicone them to have my favourite response system and then change the bearing with my favourite ones (except is not working already extremely well the bearing).
It gives another complete feeling to the yoyo all the time, for me the Klondike pads were too grabby, changed with my favourite silicone and that’s it, a bomb, the bearing the same I change it for a DS bearing and it become even better.
I do this little setup to all my yoyos, play them for couple of hours out of the box and then setup/tune them to my liking, it doesn’t take long (except for the silicone to dry) and you have a yoyo setup as you usually want/like (also the strings I usually use my favourite and not the ones in the box)
