Hey y’all, I got a bunch of tutorial requests for my GT to GT rejection, so here it is!
You’re really pumping these tuts out… we appreciate it!
Definitely learning this one!!
This is next in my queue to learn!
I’m having a lot of issues getting the string to reject properly, does anyone have tips?
Update - I accidentally got a great rejection once, I have no idea what I did properly…
If you share a video of you trying the trick, I might have some feedback for you.
Here’s 3 different tries. Let me know if a different angle would help.
I think I’m unintentionally hopping most of the time but when I swing somewhat properly I get weak rejections a lot.
Thanks!
Update - I just got it once, with a proper wrap to do the exit, so talking out loud here seems to be helping.
Update 2 - I got a couple more, it’s starting to feel like it’s because my movements are too small and I just need to go for it? I’m still not at all consistent.
this helped me start getting rejections better. bigger movements that feel almost exaggerated at first. but don’t give it more force. i naturally wanted to apply more force but rejections feel like it’s more about the motion and being fluid and smooth in the pop. in my mind it’s like sawing wood. if you push down and try to force it, you get through, but slowly and with a ton of extra effort. if you let the saw do most of the work it goes a lot more smoothly. the way you set up rejections the string wants to pop out, you just gotta help it.
forgive my tortured metaphor
Maybe try holding your hands closer together when you go for the rejection?
I feel like I don’t understand specifically how this rejection works, so I’m not sure how to help it. The bigger movements seem to help but I’m still having the same issue.
I think I’m riding into the top string more often then not from working on a different trick so much and just not getting the rejection most of the time.
Thinking through it, maybe the movement my hands doing the swing is causing the rejection to fail? Do I try to keep my hands lower then the yoyo but still close enough to the yoyo to get the rejection to catch it? No need to answer this part I’m just trying to think about it out loud.
That does seem to be helping, my timing to catch is all off but I can see the rejection better.
Ok yea this is helping a ton, I actually get the rejection 90% of the time now. I’ll keep working at it.
thanks!
Edit - ok more like 75%…
