Keep your eye on the ball!

Thats what they always say in ball related sports. But i got to thinking I’ve never heard/seen this discussed in the context of yoyoing. I tuned in to my own play while i ran through a little rewind mount practice and found that i was mostly watching the yoyo itself when i missed landing it on the string. I started focusing more on the string where i wanted to land the yoyo and had a much better consistency right away. I’ll be interested to see if the consistency holds or if it’s just coincidence, but I’m curious, what do yall keep your eye on while playing?

spotting the landing has definitely helped my own consistency

Depends on the trick. For like hooks or some lacerations I definitely look at the Yoyo to help track the speed it’s falling and keep my fingers close. For like black hops or candy rain or something I’m definitely looking at the string and where I want to land.
