Also, just to tag on to what JT said, it is a VERY good yo-yo. I also wish it was ready for release, but I understand why the boys have held back. They want it to be perfect, and whenever it finally releases you’ll be happy they waited.

I mean fine “insider” is a poor word choice but I’m referring to the people who have been there in person, employees or the team members.
Frustrating for people who can only dream, à la this meme:

I do appreciate the extra context of there being two versions, and a gap between the two. But that’s what I mean, how’s the average person to know that from occasional teaser pics?
@JTizzle I’m confused man, you are a team member but are making me feel like a jerk for using the word insider. Do you not have some inside information that people like me do not have? I get it you aren’t on the floor calling shots but do you not see what I mean by that? I guess anyone can shoot an email to David tho, he does respond. Does that make us all insiders in the end? Maybe I just misunderstand what a team member is.
What I’m learning from this hobby is that this feeling is normal, fomo and actual “mo” (missing out) are all apart of it. And also some cool projects just don’t work out the way everyone thinks they “should”
This thing may never see the light of day, but it would be cool if it did.

To add to that, I did attempt to provide as much information as I feel comfortable providing as a team member to help people understand the challenges OD has faced while making them. You can argue that doesn’t justify the wait but I’m not really here to convince you otherwise, I’m just clowning and answering questions/providing context I might be privy to. I do apologize if my sarcasm was lost through the computer screen, I did not intend to make you feel like a jerk.

My post reads like I am deeply aggrieved lol, I am not, to be clear. That’s problem with text based conversations, it can get dramatic and verbose quickly.

Yeah its a struggle, I’m a ‘sperg so i often worry people will misinterpret or that im misinterpreting in these scenarios.
To make it clear though I appreciate all my yoyo pals on here even if we might have different opinions sometimes. It can feel really difficult to have certain conversations on here, and i hope i haven’t actually upset anyone.

Ooh, I tried that red one when I visited One Drop last year.
As a fellow yoyo designer, it can take a long time to bring a new model to market, especially if it’s out of the ordinary from your usual stuff. Or, if you have other things that are more exciting that you want to release.

Oh, I see. It is totally understandable that it has taken them more than 10 years to bring a bi-metal yo-yo to market. And it is equally understandable since they have so many other; more exciting products to focus on like all the other new models and SE’s that they have brought to market during the last ten years.

Maybe it’s not a priority for them, and they’re not interested in releasing something that isn’t right. You know companies aren’t obligated to release every product they prototype right? I understand you have your issues with One Drop, but the negativity in this thread is embarrassing.

They have been up-front over the years about it not being priority. Including after earlier prototypes that didn’t go into production. I think the reasons why are pretty obvious/understandable.
I’m pretty sure similar sentiments have been posted since, in a deleted “unpopular opinions” thread.
All of these factors can change, but I notice that even the non-constructive criticisms here essentially endorse their approach.

I was more speaking to their recent attempts. I’m aware their initial prototypes didn’t work out at all for a variety of reasons. And now they have many more years of bimetal design sensibilities to catch up to.
