depending on which way your throw is going affects the way you should bind. for instance;
-on breakaway-undermount, mickey, or dave bind.
-on around the world-braintwister bind.
-just a regulur sleeper-trapeze bind.
If you bind the 'wrong way' then you have a much higher chance of getting a knot.
Actually he’s asking about which the yoyo is turning, and yes it does.
The rotation of the spin will either grab the string (if doing it right) or spit the string out (if doing it wrong).
His answer is generally correct, and he was trying to give you the answer without making it too complicated.
The short answer is yes, it really does matter. While it’s true that you can ‘bind the wrong way’ and it will still return to your hand. The problem is that the string might be bunched up and it will make your next throw relatively weak and sloppy. Worst case scenario the string goes wild and you get a knot.
Realistically, you can bind anyway that you want, but you have to deal with the bad ju-ju. Assuming that the reason you don’t bind the right way is because you cant – I would suggest learning the right way, as it will improve your overall yo-yoing.
Q:Is which way you bind really important?
A:Yes, a bind in the wrong way will just basicely do nothing, the friction from the string going against the yoyo is what causes it to come up.
With a ProtoStar you bind against against it pretty much as all yoyos.
I’m still not understanding what the response has to do with binding. If anything binding the wrong way with a bad response system will only make it even more difficult.
It’s a proven fact that if you bind against the spin then the bind is more controlled. There is also the matter of how much string was used to bind it (how big the loop was). The more string used then higher chance of knotting. It’s hard to describe but in the future you will finally understand.
Just got my protostar. I can bind both ways with it. I can also do that with my broken/modded FHZ although inconsistantly.
Idk why you say that you can’t bind both ways.
i have gotten used to binding the right way and the wrong way in such a way as to avoid knots as much as possible. Sometimes a trick lends iteself well to a dimount which causes it to bind the “wrong way.” I tend to find binding the wrong way easier for some yoyos and hard for others, as would be expected. But i also tend to get more knots binding the right way with wide gapped yoyos (loops too big?)
anyway, i tend to think that with practice, you can bind both ways without trouble, and you can let your trick determine the best dismount and bind, not the other way around.
i could be wrong.
Right like I find I cant usually get a return if I threw a breakaway and then try a trapeze bind. Rather I loop the yoyo under my finger like a reverse trapeze then bind, To me it seems to vary on the yoyo rotation as already stated.
I noticed that in quite a few of Andre’s tutorials on here, he does “wrong” binds all the time. It’s all really just about personal preference. I normally prefer backspin binds, but there are just those certain tricks were trapeze binds seem totally appropriate. Just do whatever is cool to you!
I tend to use andre’s style binds more with unresponsive yoyos since when i let go of the slack the yoyo is already in the air and the yoyo can grab onto it easier. seems that resonsive yoyos come back way too fast and knot up that way.
I guess it boils down to style and preference in the end.
