Introduce Yourself!

hello i am riley i am 14 and and i love yoyo i am about at the advanced level but it is hard i am trying to get the dark magic but my mom says i’ve been bying to many yoyos and i’ve only bought two out of my eight i love yoyo expert it is an awesome sight and i love yoyo ;D

Hi guys, I’m pretty much a yoyo newbie but want to practice using a yoyo to turn switches on and get things for me. ;D

Haha that quote from another yoyo kid scared me to thinking I messed up and bought the wrong yoyo, but I did do my research and Im looking forward to the adjustable response. And how are the spin times on that yoyo because it seems that the short spins on my Duncan Mosquito are turning out to be the most frustrating thing while trying to learn.

I have a mosquito and a dark magic. Since I know how to properly throw now, I increased my mosquito’s spin time by 100% (10 seconds) So it spins about 25 seconds now. Maybe lubing it might help but better throwing technique helps alot.

my name is ryan i have been yoyoing for almost 2 years live in arizona can do most of the tricks through expert im 14 june 19th debating on weather to get a legacy and newbreed or a dark magic and legacy and love yoyoing will hopefully be at blc next year and all my yoyoer friends say in rookie i could get at least tenth so im hoping i get to so but yeah thats me :stuck_out_tongue:

Hello! Welcome to yoyoexpert!

I can definitely recommend a dark magic from my experience!

They are nice I haven’t timed any , but once you perfect your throws they will sleep for a long time!

Hey, I’m Death ;D
I have acually been reading the forum for about a year, and I finally got around to making an account.

I remember a time when you could find a post by Kim-Lan in every topic.
Scary

…welcome, i think… glad you got an account.

Hey all,

So my 3rd grade son comes home from school a month or two ago, after someone came and did a NED show show there (a motivational show that incorporates yoyo tricks). Now yoyos are all the rage & he needs one. I rummage around and find a wooden BC Spitfire and a busted up Imperial in his older brother’s closet. He starts practicing & looking up instructional vids on Youtube. He’s having some trouble with a trick, and I find this site & Andre’s videos while trying to help him out. Next thing I know, I’m combing through the site, getting really into all the info that’s available.

I soon realize he needs something better if he’s going to try any string tricks, and pick up a couple of Mosquitos at Walmart (because of course, I need to try this out too). Soon we’re both out on the deck or at the school bus stop, practicing landing a trapeze and popping the clutch. Then the techno geek in me takes over, and I start cleaning bearings, adding rim weight, and experimenting with different lubes. Now I’m really hooked, and find a couple of FH2’s at Toy R Us. Mine’s recessed so I just finished siliconing it, his is the old model, so I’ve got some Dif-pads coming. For his birthday in July, we’re heading out to the A to Z store in Mass to pick out our next throws. I want to have at least all the intermediate trick section down by then so I’ll deserve a DM or a nice metal. Can’t believe how much fun this is, and that I missed out on this while growing up. Of course, that was a while ago, since I’ll be turning 54 in September :o

Woah that’s insane. Goes to show yoyoing doesn’t have an age limit. You’re going to a historic place too! Where Andre’s yoyoing began. x]

Hey all.
My name is David, I’m 25, live in Olympia, WA and I’m addicted again (hence the screen name). I’ve recently been into modding Hondas and RC helicopters. Both those hobbies got way too expensive and I stumbled across my Yomega Case with all my old throws in it. I spun back in freshman and sophomore year but caved to negative peer pressure when I went back to public school for my junior year and hadn’t picked up a yo-yo since probably '02.

I’ve been throwing again for about 3 weeks, and lurking on this forum and others for about as long. I visited my very loving and supportive mom and she immediately bought the best yo-yo the local store had (a Yomega Maverick). I’m old school, so it’s a great responsive throw. Also my first metal. There’s a lot more pain than I remember.

I’ve since ordered a Clear FreeHand Zero (intended for the modder in me and because 5a is stunning to watch), and a Protostar. Learning to bind, the pros make it look so much more easy than it is.

My hardest trick is currently Buddha’s Revenge on the Maverick. Never been too good at the trapeze style. Split bottom mount is where I spent a lot of my time back in the day.

Later, Dave

Good to know… NOT!!! I wouldn’t put that in your introduce yourself post. But it’s up to you.

I’m pretty sure that was a joke. Making fun of the post style in this thread.
