Introduce Yourself!

I was asked a question so answered accordingly. How do you suggest I respond in future if asked a question such as “Where did you get that from”?

At this moment in time, I feel like the only possible course of action is to just shrug and point them in a general direction without directly mentioning store names example: “Some yoyo store in (insert country here)”. Though most people on this site likely won’t ask where you buy a yoyo from just to avoid this situation.

Edit to mention that if someone REALLY needs it, you can PM them

Thanks for the heads up, I will look for another forum where I can discuss the hobby in general without worrying about offending people.

Yoyo expert yoyo friends. Strings from monkey finger and zipline. Some weird Chinese online shop called open china cart. Yoyo sam and yoyo yo . Ilike trying to find different online sources to see what they have to offer. I find shipping is a real killer cost wise and lumits what i get

Sorry mate didnt mean to get you in trouble. It is a forum after all and i did ask you where you bought from. A bit over the top on political correctness on that guys behalf i feel

Mate i asked Richard where he buys from. Surely he can reply in public without censorship. R u a moderator? They havent commented on him telling me

Seems to me from my reading of posts people are naming sources of where they have purchased yoyos regularly

Not a mod, but my take on it is that it’s the linking to other stores that’s really frowned upon, and the mods have used some automatic tools to help prevent some of that.

Fair enough, I’ve seen posts where directly mentioning the store was frowned upon though, and I also think it’s a bit unclear since site guidelines state no direct links to competitor stores, plus I’m not a mod I just joined pretty recently, sorry about that

You are correct. Yoyo Expert, a yoyo store, pays to keep this forum going so not mentioning other yoyo stores (which we are all aware of) is not censorship, it’s just good etiquette. It’s a mistake a good number of us has made. Have fun everyone…we are keeping the child inside of us alive and playing with yoyos. How awesome is that?!?!

Welcome to the forums!

From the site’s guidelines:

(quote)

Please Don’t Advertise Other Yo-Yo Stores

While this is a general Yo-Yo forum, it is officially owned and operated by YoYoExpert and that should be respected.

Do not post direct links to any other on-line store that sells yo-yos. If you feel that someone needs a link to another yo-yo store or someone is asking for it, please PM them the link.

Also, please avoid posting yo-yo pictures that have prominent store logos in them.

(end quote)

So…there you go. Posting a link is a direct violation of the rules. Advertising for another site is a violation as well. I honestly can’t see an issue with simply answering a question as long as you aren’t unnecessarily hyping/advertising another strore.

To be safe though, I’d simply DM someone regarding any other site if it wasn’t a manufacturer’s site.

Rules are rules. We all agreed to follow them when we signed up.

Enjoy the throw

Welcome to the forums! Maybe you can take a look at the MK1 Spyglass, seems to fit what you want pretty well. It’s not a traditional organic (has a deep undercut) and is a bit smaller than full size, but I think you’ll find it enjoyable.

Heyo lads, its been about 12 years since I’ve been here, looking forward to taking some good photos and making some good sales and purchases!
Just picked up an Aitch and a Shinobi after looking into the ‘new gen’ of hardware. Having fun again already!

New middle aged dude who discovered yo-yoing during pandemic. Big fan of 0A when on video calls with camera off. Still a 1A fledgling but having a lot of fun working through the basics.

Richmond VA is home. Thanks to all who posted tutorials here - they have helped a lot.

Welcome back! I quit in the early 90’s and got back into it in the 2020 quarantine days. It’s a great time to return. No more learning from text out of a book or “yo-yo trick book” that comes with the yo-yos. between the forum, and videos you can learn anything and there’s a endless number of tricks now. Modern yo-yos are much better on average than the old days too.
It’s great to have another old school player throwing again.
