Welcome to the Forums. Lots of people love the XT and the yoyos you’re waiting for are great but are unresponsive so you will have to learn to bind but they will give you a lot of spin time!

Here’s the easiest first bind you can learn when your unresponsive yoyos come in the mail. Video is by Forum member @yoyodoc

Hey there folks!

I’ve been silently lurking here for a few days, but I think it’s time to formally introduce myself. My names Chris and I started yoyoing back around 2008 when I was younger. I recently got back into yoyoing and have been really enjoying getting more involved in the community. I’m excited to be here and talk with everyone about this amazing hobby!

Hey everyone, my name is Troy and Im definitely a new thrower. I really enjoyed yoyoing when i was a kid but never got past walk the dog or rock the cradle. The internet didnt exist yet so i had to figure out those two tricks on my own. I believe i was throwing a Brain…i think.

My daughter recently had a birthday and got some money that was burning a hole in her pocket so she wanted to go to a local toy store to spend it. Once we got there i saw they had yoyos, not good yoyos, the kind a kid would get in a bag at a birthday party kind of a yoyo. When i saw it i rememebered how much i enjoyed throwing a yoyo when i was a kid and started looking into it once i got home. I quickly learned that ALOT has changed in 20 years lol. Wow, there are so many choices and styles that is a bit overwhelming but after a week i found this place. I love forums because they offer great tips, tricks, real reviews and most importantly, a place to converse with people with the same interest as you. I dont know anyone that is really into yoyoing around me. People like to throw it but their interest stops there, they could care less to discuss detailed topics about yoyoing lol.

Right now i am into looping, or trying to loop anyway. I just ordered a Something LP to loop with. I currently have a Yoyo King Merlin, Yomega Exodus II, a nice unresponsive MagicYoyo that i cant remember the name of and a Duncan Butterfly XT. I bought the Butterfly because Im impatient and I could find it at Target and use it while I wait for my LP.

I dont know why I enjoy throwing so much. I love just throwing it and getting a fast sleeper going, its theraputic or something lol. I have thrown so much the past few days that my hand has split open in a couple spots from the Yomega Exodus II. I can get that thing spinning super fast but it hurts when it comes back to my hand.

Anyway, sorry for the long introduction. I look forward to being a part of the community and thanks for having me!

Welcome to the forums and back to Yoyo. That Exodus II and Merlin are heavily pushed on that giant internet store for some strange reason. The Exodus II is a great paperweight if you work in a windy office. Most modern yoyos are 50% the weight. Don’t hurt yourself!

Yep, that is where I got them. It feels like the Exodus is 3x the weight of the AL Magicyoyo i have. Im glad i found this place. What do you think of the LP and the ShootingStar? I am waiting on them to be delivered.

The shooting star is great. Haven’t tried the LP.

Welcome to the forums! It’s awesome that you’re getting into looping, it’s a style that very few people play, mostly because of it’s difficulty. The Something LP is one of the best looping yoyos out there, though albeit expensive, a lot of 2A players recommend it as it’s kind of a higher quality Loop 720. It’s heavier than the Loop 720, so you’ll likely have greater control as it doesn’t move as fast as the Loop 720s or the C3 Initiators and it’ll feel more grounded. All of this is subjective though and I encourage you to just buy and try out the various different looping yoyos, they’re pretty cheap anyways. You’ll eventually find a yoyo that you like.

The Shooting Star is an awesome yoyo, super smooth and well playing. It’s pretty light but it’s stable enough to handle all sorts of different tricks like horizontal and hence moves pretty quickly on the string. Both are great additions to your collection for sure.
