Welcome to the forums! I too recently shook off my rust (several months ago now) and discovered unresponsive play. Also, I totally also still have my XBrain from childhood!
My best advice is to try to not get caught up in the hype around the over 8000 awesome new yoyos that come out everyday (or do? Collecting is fun!)
This community has proven to be pretty awesome, I think you’ll like it here.
I am a female from The Netherlands and very new in the YoYo world, I brought 13 YoYo’s in 3 weeks too much from 1a till 5a, why ? Because I want it and yes I also purchased some wrong ones. I watched a lot of video’s and reading this forum step by step. I have a lot to learn also step by step. So which tricks I can do … uhm … I am still learning
Besides the YoYo … I speedcube and I am a front-end developer. I love Armin van Buuren. Maybe you see me in a YoYo contest do some YoYo tricks on the music of Armin van Boring. No that was a joke, I am not competitive, I am scared on stage.
I am a gamer … Play Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Nioh and Sekiro controller dies twice
The x-brain is my warm-up yoyo then I head to the Raider to start practicing new tricks. I am really looking forward to getting the Duncan Hornet as well. Not sure if I will use the Turbo Bumblebee as it is a collectors item…but I may change my mind once I get it LOL
Hi everyone~ my name is Cooby and I am from Hong Kong. I am now studying in secondary school. and self learning 1A yoyo tricks. And I am gonna perform yoyo tricks at school after my exam (although I haven’t learnt a lot but I think it is still worth a try~) Hope I can do well and wanna ask if you guys have any suggestions for performing 1A combo tricks? like what combo is it good for performing?
Hope to learn more about everyone on this forum! and improving my skills at the same time~
Welcome to the forums! I’m not sure what tricks you already know but whenever this type of question pops someone always suggests including a few tricks that almost everyone has seen like Rock the Baby. I’d even suggest some simple Brain Twisters or Split the Atom. If it’s all complex tricks it goes a little over people’s heads. Bring a plastic yoyo so you can walk the dog too.
Welcome! Combo tricks are aplenty! I suggest learning the individual tricks first. Once you have learnt most of the individual tricks, you would have little problem coming up with combos of your own. Mastery of the various trick elements is key to making them look good. Even a simple trick can look great when performed masterfully.
That’s a good idea! Thanks for all of your recommendation. Actually I have learnt just a few like spilt and atom, the matrix, double or nothing and also the side throw…but yeah I will learn some simple/single tricks first. If there’s not enough time, I think if I can join this single tricks smoothly that’s would already be great for me~
and besides learning yo-yo, I also learnt piano and I am now grade 7.(but I stop learning for 3 years) Thinking to have the grade 8 exam by self learning after the dse exam when it is not so busy for me
Hi all,
I am a new member here, but just a basic yoyo player.
My involvement in the yoyo community started when
I was employed in a small yoyo shop called Yomega
yoyos in Fall River, Ma.
I worked in shipping, could see the demand worldwide.
Yomega introduced their Metallic Missle aluminum
yoyo after 3 years developement and it was nice, but fragile.
It was very unforgiving of an overlong string and a cement
floor. Chris Ciosek totaled one in the shipping area that way.
Anyway, it got me thinking that I could make a better metal
yoyo. Using round aluminum stock and my stepfather’s
South Bend lathe I developed and discarded several prototypes
till I had a very good one. This took me about 3 months in the early
90s.
People I showed them to, begged me to sell them one.
Anyway, I had 100 made by CNC from my prototypes as a first run,
intending to make any needed tweaks before full production.
I had a financial backer/partner who made some decisions
that I wouldn’t have. For instance, the colored O ring edge protectors.
My aim was to make these yoyos durable, fast and affordable.
I said “Use easily replaced black rubber O rings, available cheap everywhere.” (That’s what I have on my personal ones.)
Anyway, the project ran out of money, at the point of packaging.
At that point, I said, “Put them in a plastic bag with cardboard.”
Vetoed.
They said “It has to go in something nice.”
I said, “People ain’t buying the packaging, but the yoyo.”
Personally, if I wanted one, I would buy it in a paper sack, but
a gold trimmed velvet sack wouldn’t induce me to buy the turd
therein ."
A velvet bag was kicked around for a while , but the funding
dried up, and the end result was I was left with 100 custom
designed aluminum, roller bearing yoyos, 10,000 high
quality combed cotton Mexican strings and $10,000.00 gone from
my meager Life savings.
I am currently moving cross country and everything is packed,
but will post many more photos when I am settled in my new home.
Thanks for listening all, when I get settled, I will have good
quality yoyo string for sale, possibly some Joyos, lol.
God bless.
Thank you for your kind words.
Right now I am preparing to move 2,000 miles from where I live
in one week from now.
Sadly, all my really cool designs are already packed.
I had those pictures on hand.
Once settled, I would be glad to show design points, features,
styles, and sizes. They actually weigh less than a Yomega Raider.
You can literally run over this yoyo and it will still work, lol.
Regards,
Joe
