Introduce Yourself!

Hi everyone! I’ve taken a bit of a hiatus from throwing and haven’t been on the forum for a long time… BUT, I’m back and happy to report that I’ve been throwing regularly again!

I still have my collection that includes several ODs (cascade, dietz, yelets), TooHOT prototype, gnarwhal, shutter, and more…

I’ve never really bought strings… ever… so I had to get my jig back together and get the technique figured out again. Now I can crank out my own strings again; smell the savings $$$. 8)

I’ve found the trick ladder to be like riding a bike; it all came back within a couple of days! But, I see tons of new tricks to learn and tons of new throws to NEED! ;D

happy throwing!

Welcome back to the throw, Mofoya!

Hello!

It’s been quite a long while since I was active with the community - 2005maybe at the latest. I never stopped reading about current events, such as Worlds each year or checking out the latest throws on a regular basis, but I feel like it would be a lot of fun being a part of the message boards again so here I am.

Currently, I have found myself going backwards - in a way - towards more “old-school” throws such as fixed axle plastics (Duncan Wheel, Butterfly, etc.) and less modern bearing classics (Superyo Renegade, Yomega HWHW). I also have some more modern throws (metal included) - but I tend to prefer plastic such as the, Adegle PSG, Alpha Crash, etc.

When it comes to throwing I like to compare it to my other hobby which is playing guitar - I tell people they are both “stringed instruments” in a way and that must be why I have a natural capacity with it.

I look forward to having more fun like I did in the late 90’s - early 00’s on this board.

Hi, everyone.

I haven’t thrown in about 10 years and thought I’d see what was new. As it turns out, quite a bit!

Lots of interesting developments. New types, new shapes, new manufacturers, new tricks. The bimetals in particular look very promising. I’ll be heading from here to the store (via a reco thread) to grab a few new throws for myself, along with one for my daughter.

Without actually getting up to look I think I have (circa 10 or so years old) Duncan Freehands, Superyo Renegades, a Sector Y, Dale Bell Night Moves, Phat Boy, Cold Fusion, SB2, Patriot, Cherry Bomb, Infinite Illusions, Russell, SF2, Henry, Turbo Bumble Bee, a few cheapos I bought for various logos, and a couple of others. Wow, typing that out I realize that I’m long on plastic. I think there just weren’t many metal options back then. I’ll be fixing that.

I like skill toys and games, R/C Aircraft, computer/console games, auto racing, flying, movies, fishing, sporting clays, etc. If you can aim it, amuse yourself with it, or get some adrenaline from it, chances are I like it.

I play on and off the string and was known for throwing in my office while on phone calls, which drew a lot of double-takes. I was nicknamed “Yobi-Wan,” which was good for a chuckle but also pretty silly given the truth of my comparatively laughable lack of real skill.

Anyway, this site has been so useful in bringing me up to speed and up to date that I registered so I can ask some questions or maybe add to the discussion.

I am glad you have gotten back into throwing. Welcome and have fun.

I am Caden, or Cade for short. I am 19, and am a college student. I am a new yoyoer. Ive only been yoyoing for about 3 weeks with the YYF Sage (I did put the unresponsive bearing in it). I am super excited to say that I bought a YYF Shutter today. My favorite yoyoer is Gentry Stein. I really like his style, and how his body flows with the yoyo. If anyone has any tips or tricks they can give me, I’d greatly appreciate it!

welcome to the yoyoexpert forums Caden! If you ever have a question just ask and anyone with an answer will try and help! the learn tab is full of awesome tutorials I started learning off of them myself!
Cya round man!
JO-YO

Hello All!!! My name is Jael and i got into yoyoing when i received my first yoyo: a blue Duncan Imperial almost three or four years ago. i dont practice as often as the average pro as i have school (plus i absolutely NEED string for le yoyos xD but i cant get them rn), but whenever i get free time i practice the basics as i absolutely need to practice more. My favorite YoYo as of right now is the Duncan Speed Beetle. it works really well as i attempt to perform inside loops and other looping tricks. I have been shifting my focus on looping tricks and cant even rock the baby (Ill get to it eventually x3). i actually discovered YoYoExpert through a YouTube video and ive been hooked ever since. i wish to learn all i can about YoYo’s and perfect as many tricks as i can. i hope to eventually learn 1A tricks as i have a Duncan Freakhand and a Pro-Z with its Mod Spacers, and maybe 4a with a Duncan Hayabusa. i also
Really REALLY wanna try different looping YoYo’s such as the YoYoFactory Loop 360, Yomega Raider, and maybe go buy some better Speed Beetles.

Hello.I’m Hak! I’m a relatively new player from NYC. I saw some guy throwing on the subway a few months back and quickly realized “yeah I could be about that life.” I’ve been playing for about 7 months now and I think I’ve picked it up pretty well. I’ve collected 17 yoyos in that time, but my favorite 3 are definitely my aluminum dream, my horizon, and my replay pro (Ppretty big fan of YYF).I don’t really have anyone to play with so I’m thinking of joining the NYYYC. Is anyone else here a ember so to speak. I would really like to learn some new stuff!

LOL You have more yoyos in 7 months then I have had is my 7 years! XD

Names Mike I’m new to yoyos I don’t have any favorite’s yet. I just got my dv888 in the mail. Found this when looking for help.

Hi, my name’s Michael (Metalboy is a ridiculously old nickname…hanging desperately on to my youth, I suppose). I’m from Tennessee, and I’ve been throwing for a couple months. I used to love it when I was a kid, but I didn’t really put the time or effort into getting decent at it, so now I want to rectify that. I’m a big fan of Yoyofactory and One Drop, and could be persuaded to get on board with CLYW, because some of their products look amazing. Anyway, this is long enough.

^Welcome Glad you got into the hobby.

You never truly realize how many new people are joining these forums until you look at this thread.

Welcome everybody!

I Know Right!!! XD I personally think it is awesome! but that may be because I haven’t met another serious yoyoer! XD

Hello there, I’m new here on this fine forum. I hope not to get myself into too much trouble here ;D

LOL Mr. ARK I must inform you that this forum has been know to eat the souls of those even mildy interested in yoyos, kenadmas and spin tops. Please take caution when opening any threads found within this forum.

Hi
I have picked up a Yo-yo here and there to try, I’m not great with tricks but it’s fun to play with. I’m here to learn about the hobby, and connect with those that collect. I have an extensive collection to disband for a gentleman in his 80’s. I believe his dedicated collecting of vintage Cheerio, both Kitchener Buttons and made in Sweden, also Duncan and so many more can contribute in a more comfortable retirement for he and his wife. The collection is a marvel. I have learned so much and will enjoy learning more. Please share your knowledge, I’m here to learn as much as I can. Thanks

Welcome! if you are looking at sell those yoyos you will find the B/S/T section handy the B/S/T rules will be at the top in the sticky section. Sadly I must inform you to beware of who you sell to as there are still trolls and scammers as any other forum. You will find the trades record with feedback handy.
