Introduce Yourself!

Sounds like you found a good way to spend a cold BC winter. Welcome.

Welcome! the learn section here is very helpful for learning new tricks you should check it out if you havn’t already.

Welcome! Sounds like you’re progressing faster than most! (Faster than me, in any case)

Welcome! Work hard and you’ll land tricks, even on that speed beetle!

Hey I’m Anuk, I’m a couple weeks in and loving learning lots of new tricks!

Nice, what are you throwing?

And welcome!

Welcome

Thanks, i’m throwing a few things actually but mostly my paul han onestar. On my shelf i have the yomega ooch and odyssey. On order i have YYF one and adegle asteroid. I really love unresponsive play so i’m sticking with the onestar for now ;D

I don’t have a onestar, but I’ve heard good things! Unresponsive is a lot of fun, though after watching Ed Haponik for awhile it’s making me want to get a fixed axle…

The Onestar is amazing for the price, I haven’t played with anything of a higher standard though so i’m not sure how it compares, I think my next yoyo will be the dark magic 2 just because it is so solid to learn on. Ed Haponik certainly has an interesting style… Maybe when i’ve mastered 1A i’ll give it a go!!

You should also consider the Shutter. The DM2 is a great throw (I have one), but I think you’ll get more for the price with the Shutter. Great throw.

Being relatively new I still hit the floor occassionally ::), which yoyo would take a little bit of a beating best? With the shutter is it one hit and and done or? I want a really good yoyo but one that can bear a beating.

The one drop rally or YYR new diffusion, both are plastic and perform great

It can definitely take a beating. Most metals these days can. You’ll chip the anno, but unless it’s a bad blow it shouldn’t affect the play.

Welcome to the family bro! What tricks u working on now?

Great, I’ll consider the shutter then! Which has the best shape for learning string tricks? The shutter or DM2? For instance I love the wide gap on the onestar, how does the gap compare? Is it narrower on these yoyos?

Thanks! I just learnt the matrix, today I’m hoping to get the mcbride roller coaster down.

Nah, it’s every bit as wide (maybe wider) on the Shutter. They’re both great for learning tricks. Shutter grinds better, especially thumb grinds. It’s just a super long-spinning, stable yoyo, that can do any trick you throw at it. =)

Thank you! Looks like I’m going to get the shutter
