hello my name is Zach I love to yoyo. I practice yoyos go about 3 hours a day mainly at the skatepark all my friends call me yoyo boy lol. My favorite trick is stop and go my favorite yoyo is Duncan yoyo because that was my first metal yoyo. I found out about YoYoExpert at my yoyo club and on youtube.
Welcome to the forums! What kind of Duncan?
I am a college student in Durham, NC. Father of one little girl and just found out another is coming with a due date in the same week as the first.
I goofed around with yoyos when I was a kid but nothing serious.
Was given a yyf shutter as a gift a while back and was amazed how much yoyo design has changed.
Now I am hooked. Canāt put them down.
I have been active on redditās r/throwers as bo-bian, and while I have done (maybe too much) shopping on yoyo expert I am now seeing how much information is on the forum here so youāll probably be seeing a lot of me.
So, yoyo stuff.
I am sticking with 1A until I feel super confident.
I have tried lots of throws, but my favorites right now are the OD benchmark H shape, the summit, the yyf shutter, and my new yyrec diffusion.
My favorite tricks are laceration/suicide/whip type moves.
I am new, but feel confident that I am getting better.
It seems to tap into the same stubbornness like when I used to skate.
I have to keep going until I ālandā it.
Realized I am getting wordy, so Iāll stop my rambling and go change a string or something.
Hi!
Iāve been messing around with yoyos since I was a kid. These days, my favorite is probably the 3yo3 Ceephax. I have kind of an obscenely large collection which my wife would like me to sell down a little bit which is primarily why I joined the forum. I used to be more active in forums and the like a few years ago (YYN mostly). Anyways, Iām looking forward to lurking a bit and participating when I can.
Thanks!
Capn.
^Welcome.
Welcome! I have the same ābuying too many yoyosā problem myself. =)
Iād be happy to take those yoyos off your handsā¦
But seriously, welcome!
Hi. Iāve been yo-yoing for a few weeks now. Just Iāve got a few yo-yos in my collection mostly inexpensive Duncan and Yomega.
My Yomega Fireball is my favorite but for some reason when doing loops sometimes the string doesnāt wind back tightly causing my next throw to just drop straight to the floor. Why does this happen? It doesnāt happen to my Yomega Brain or Duncan Proyo.
Welcome!
I donāt own a fireball, but it appears that itās a transaxle system with starburst responseā¦what kind of string are you using? Just cotton?
Itās possible a new string could be needed if the starbursts arenāt grabbing the string right. But more likely itās a technique thing, which will be hard to diagnose without a video or in person.
Also, make sure itās tightened all the way (though careful not to over tighten!)
Thanks. Yeah right now Iām just using Yomega 50/50 strings but I have some poly ones ordered.
That does not use a response system that wears out, I am betting more practice is needed. Did you bang it pretty hard on something?
Hey. Iām Luke, and I was really nuts about yoyos for years when I was younger. I got quite a few short-lived Duncans, and since then have upgraded to a YYF Whip. Up until recently I had just gotten into some of the more advanced tricks, but then I lost my Whip. Now I plan on purchasing a DV888 and getting back into the advanced stuff. I love the simplicity of the yoyo and the unlimited amount of amazing things you can do with it. One of my weaknesses when I play is my throw. I canāt seem to consistently throw a dead center spin, especially on the side. If anyone has any tips, let me know. Thanks!
Getting a good throw is definitely one of the hardest parts about starting out with a yoyo. But thereās no āsilver bulletā ā itās just practice.
BTW, you should look into getting a Shutter rather than a dv888 ā the dv888 is great, but I think a full-size throw is better, especially when youāre starting out. The Shutter is amazing for the price and will handle anything you throw at it.
Oh, and welcome! =D
Thanks! I will say, the Shutter looks tempting, but I really donāt want to pay $45.00. The Dv888 is now $30.00 with an upgrade kit. Unless you know of someone willing to part with their Shutter for $30.00ā¦
Oh nice! I thought the dv888 was still sitting at $40 or so. Donāt mind me in that caseā¦enjoy the dv888!
My name is Sean and I am from the greater Philadelphia area. I have been yo-yoing seriously for about 1 week and already broke my first string. Looking forward to becoming better and eventually competing.
Welcome. It is good to be serious but remember always have fun first!
hello guys.im a newbie.just pick up a duncan pulse and having a great time since 5 days ago ;D.looking forward to learn all about yoyo n get to know the nice people here.cheers
Welcome! What yoyo are you playing with?
Hi Iām Jordan and I have recently started yoyoing my favorite throw is the Onedrop Benchmark H. I pick up slack and whip tricks pretty easily but have a harder time with the complicated string tricks like spirit bomb. This stuff is really fun!
