Hello all! I’m Alec and 17 years old!
I’ve been lurking these forums for the past year and I just decided to sign-up to engage with the community.

Funny story actually, I picked up yo-yoing when I was little(2006?) from watching ā€œBlazing Teensā€ when I was on holiday in China. I found it weird how my yo-yo wasn’t spinning as long as other people’s (I didn’t know there was a difference between 1A and 2A yo-yos). Since Youtube is banned in China, I had no access to cool tricks or performances to inspire me so I gave up and trashed it.
Years later, (late 2012) I remembered I had yo-yoed (because I was trying to find things to be a hipster teenager) and decided to look up some Youtube clips. Tadah, what a scene I saw of Jensen Kimmitt destroying the stages which really inspired to pick up yo-yoing again. I thought buying beginner yo-yos were a waste of money so I immediately bought a Northstar (from yoyoexpert) which reigned supreme as the ā€˜best’ plastic yo-yo.
And here I am today with a few more yo-yos and a kendama. (just started kendama-ing!)
I’m pretty unorganised, I go between various levels of tricks, which ever seems most fun.
E.g. I only mastered the boingy boing and eli hop after I attempted more harder tricks(which I have yet to land T_T) haha.

Anyway I hope I can be more involved with the community after making an account, especially since I can’t find anyone else in New Zealand who yo-yos. I’ve tried enticing my friends but they aren’t very tenacious and give up after not being able to bind. Guess I should have bought a beginner yo-yo to help make them feel better? haha.

I’ve enjoyed lurking around YoYoExpert. I hope I can benefit you guys just as you guys already have for me! Keep up the good work!

There are definitely a few other kiwis around, but I’m not sure of names offhand or which part of the country they’re in.

Anyhow, now that you’re out of stealth mode I hope to see you around, Shortfry!

Hello all, I’m TheYoyoNewb. I’m not totally obsessed with yoyos and all but I do like them. I’m not very good…I’m learning some tricks, I’d say beginner to intermediate level. I’m actually learning from my little brother, who has a very deep obsession with yoyos. You might know him. He’s The Yoyo Nerd ;D You might know him…he’s always on here so I wanted to check it out. If you want to know more about me feel free to PM me

Welcome to the forums!

Hey guys, my name is bill and I’m a fresh yoyo fan. Used to be the big thing here in Michigan in the late 90’s early 2000’s but died. Got a free yoyo at a race convention and was hooked immediately. Broke it the first day so had to go buy another. I went to a local toy shop and got a toy smith hyper spin stainless for 10 bucks! Two weeks later I’m excitedly waiting on my pink and blue Dark Magic 2. I figured go big or go home so I went for broke (as soon as my wife said I could lol). Anyway, gonna try and aster all these tricks here at yoyoexpert.com. Love the site and the new hobby, hopefully I will be posting some cool vids when I’m good. Later y’all.

Welcome! Enjoy the heck out of that DM2. I’d be surprised if that ends up being your last yoyo. Not because you will ever need another one (DM2 can take you all the way, with a few specialized exceptions)… but because you will want another one. Or twenty!
