Introduce Yourself!

Welcome to the forums George! It’s always good to see some college age students on the forums. How are you liking the Maverick? I hope you have a good time on the forums!

Hey all, My names Nathan

My fist yoyo eas a Duncan butterfly that i got when I was eight. I was bloody awful. I never really got into the hobby until recently. I bought the yomega maverick about a year ago and have been practicing off and on since. Looking at picking up a new one to advanced farther, as I feel I’d really like to get moving on to bigger and better things, but I don’t know what to get. there’s so many options and having a fairly large budget makes even more options… not sure what to do.

anyways, Thought I’d say hi and I’m looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hi my name is Howard. I got into yoyos again in January of this year. I used to yoyo in high school but I lost interest until now. I am 26 years old and when I tell people I yoyo they laugh but it’s all good. I actually was showing a buddy of mine some tricks and he ordered a dark magic 2 a few days ago. Anyways since January I’ve ordered a dark magic 2, mutant DNA, chief and a summit. So yeah I’m pretty much obsessed now. I haven’t seen any yoyoers here in charleston sc or any clubs but maybe I can start a revolution down here haha. I started looking at YouTube videos and came across Andre boulay and then yoyoexpert. Nice to meet you all

I used to “yoyo” back when I was younger. I remember having a yomega catalog my dad got me. I remember sending in the money and our order in the mail. He got an x brain and I got a saber wing fireball (clear lime green.) I thought I was awesome with that thing. I didn’t get very far though because both yoyos broke with in around two months. I never picked it up again. Last week while in the mall here in Louisiana I wandered into fye. I was looking at the clearance pile when I noticed something that said yomega. I hadn’t seen that name since 1998 Adi nostalgia grabbed me. I picked it up and it was a fireball (non saber wing) looked at the price and it was on clearance from $10 to $2. Instant purchase. I immediately brought it home and searched online to see how good of a deal I got. That’s when I found out about the new wave of unresponsive yoyos. I then called up the nearest toys r us and asked if they had yoyos. They said yes. I went in and bought a yyf velocity. Here I am now just learning binding and trapeze and loving it. Glad to be a part of this community. Just wish there were Louisiana throwers.

Welcome aboard, folks!

Howard: at almost 40, I’ve moved past getting strange looks and right into it just being a quirk. Like wearing a fedora or something.

Didact: I think I just saw another post (“Who’s going to World’s”) in which someone was lamenting the lack of Louisiana throwers. Funny thing is, we see the same posts from New York and Los Angeles, too. I think throwers have a hard time finding each other sometimes, myself included! Have fun with that Velocity; it’s a good one.

GregP, that was me in the who’s going to world’s thread. I’m more than likely going because I want to see, in person, good throwers in order to be inspired. Thanks for the welcome!

Hahah! Well, I guess the search continues, then. I’d like to meet some good throwers in person, too. Good luck, have fun, and welcome again!

Hi! I finally joined here, have ordered twice. I go buy Phuzion over at theyo.com and have been since about 2002 ( yeah, I am old and old skool ) but due to a processing error by the yoyoexpert registration gnomes, I have a typo…

Yeah, so, umm… HI!

Hi, my name is RiverStone. I am an older YoYoer at 62. I thought about getting a YoYo for a long time. I went to the hobby store for something else and came out with a YoYo. I got a Duncan ProZ. Ater a couple of weeks practicing beginner tricks on YoYo Expert, I got a DM2. I love the feel of this YoYo with poly string. Then got a Grind Machine, just because it is cool. My favorite trick so far in my one month of YoYoing is Pop he Clutch.

I am finding that everyone loves a YoYo. It brings back stories and them wanting to show me what they can do. That is good. I am finding it a good way to swithch gears from my IT consulting life and my personal life.

Yo my names Chris and I’m from Memphis , sadly we’re third world when it comes to yoyo’s. the current yoyo i’m using the yyf Whip and im getting through the advanced part 1 of tricks. If there is any advice i anyone can give on keeping my throws leveled it’d be greatly appreciated.

Hi, my names Makenna and I’m a sixteen-year-old girl. I attend a community college at the moment and do a ton of stuff with my youth group. I got sucked into yoyoing by a couple of friends, Mason DeVriend and David Ripplinger, and Mason told me I had to join YoYoExpert, so here I am. I’m the proud owner of a YoYoFactory Superstar, that I have with me almost constantly, and have recently become obsessed with the C3 Halo (it’s the wallpaper on my laptop now). I’m not great (yet) but I’m working my way through all the trick in the learn section when I have time. I’m also hoping to go to my first yoyo competition soon and start getting more involved with the whole “buy/sell/trade” thing eventually.

Welcome, Makenna!

I’m sure with friends like that around, you’ll progress pretty quickly. Superstar is a pretty darned good yoyo to be learning on! Apparently the Halo is great, too, but I’ve never played one.

Good luck, and we’ll be seeing you around.

Hello im Corey! I am a kinda intermediate thrower i currently have a bunch of yomegas, and a yoyofactory ONE. Alot more cool yoyos r coming in the mail tho. I am completely stuck on the one and a half side mount. It always bounces right back when I try. Any tips?

Welcome, Corey!

1.5 mount is one of the toughest mounts there is. I found it WAY harder than Double-or-Nothing. The only thing that helped was practice.

As the yoyo is coming up to hit the string segment, you HAVE to give it some slack by bringing your hands a little closer together. With time and practice you will instinctively give it the right amount of slack, but suffice it to say you have to give it some, or the yoyo won’t be able to continue around your finger.

It might help (or it might form bad habits) to think of your forefinger going around the yoyo (underpassing it) instead of thinking of it as the yoyo making this perfect circle around your finger.

Thanks ill keep practicing! (This website is AWESOME!)

Hello my name is Mario N. and i used to yo-yo when i was in elementary but recently me and my son got back into yo-yo’s and wow the have changed. I love all the design, detail and artwork that goes into these amazing throws. Some of my favorite yo-yo tricks are the Spirit Bomb, Jade Whip, Green Revolutions. Some of my favorite yo-yo’s so far include YoYoFactory Genesis and the Onedrop+CLYW Summit. I found out about YoYoExpert through Google when i was shopping around for my new throw.
