HI guys I’m Liam I’ve been yoyoing for about 9 months now, i do 1A, I have a few yoyos and my collection is still growing. The yoyos i have are Yoyojam SR-71, Yoyojam Fever, and Godtricks cyclone. My favourite to use is the cyclone, i find it really smooth and it can do some sick grinds. My favourite trick would probably be revolutions. I found out about yoyoexpert from a friend and I’m getting better every day, I’m hoping I can go to worlds one day.I’m also working on making a yoyo club at my school.
Right on, Liam! Good luck with the club!

Just realized, I never posted here!
I have yoyoed for 3 years, been on here for about the same, and have around 35 yoyos. I am a fanboy for general yo, but I am not against any brands. My name Is Alex, and I live in Northeastern Indiana.
Welcome newcomers to the forums (and Dingo;P). Enjoy throwing:)
hi, i am new to yoyoing and currently have a dm2. i have been doing it for about 2 months now. im not very good but getting better and better. im also not very competetive and mostly like to have fun but i still like a challenge. i hope to someday get really good and get a clyw yoyo. but one step at a time, right?
You got it! Keep in mind that you don’t necessarily have to go in that order… you can get a CLYW with zero skill at all, if that’s what you want.
Hi my name is ty, and ive been yoyoing for quite a while. I have over 40 yoyos currently. I particularly fancy 1a and 4a but atill enjoy 5a as well. I can barely loop even after all this time (4-5 years) and have only attempted 3a like 4 times. I have only ever competed in 1a, not even the ladders. I yoyo for a store in manitou colorado called ■■■■■■■■, which you may have heard of. I started how alot do, by an assembly at school. That was my first exposure to yoyos, other than a fast 201 i got a couple years before that, but this was my true start as a yoyoer, 5 years ago. Then i broke my proyo i got, and couldnt yoyo for a while but then i got a flying squirrel the following xmas, and have since rarely been cauggt without a yoyo on my person. So in conclusion, its safe to say i love yoyoing.
Yo whuddup folks! My name is Chris and I just got back into throwing after about a 2-3 year hiatus . Life hit and I had to take a break. Man things have changed since I been gone! Well it’s good to be back. I missed the community!
I currently throw an Augie Fash G5+, DV888, and some times my pretty messed Lynn Fury. I plan on buying more soon to rebuild my collection!
Nice to have you back into yoyoing! If your need any help we are happy to help!
Hey there! I’m Emilio, been throwing around half a year or so, got into it after my buddy. My first throw was a Grind Machine, and that was great to start with, then got me a Protostar and that’s when i started getting a bit more serious. I now happily own: Protostar, Supernova, Token, Avalanche, Freq Wav, and a TA1.
Looking forward to being a part of the community!!
Hello from Ottawa Ontario!
My first yoyo was one of these back in the early 80s with which I won a Coca Cola Special Edition Digital watch!!! (i was THIS close to winning the 10 speed bike)

I hadn’t touched one in 30+ years until about 6 months ago when I bought a Yomega looper to play with. To see if I could remember any of my old tricks. Ya, I didn;t do so well but I kept playign with it once in a while.
I picked up a Yomega Hot Shot because I had never tried a butterfly style. I thougth it was cool but I could not get it to loop very well (NOOB alert) so I set it aside.
Along comes my friend GregP (as he’s known on the forum) and he tells me he’s into yoyos and shows me some of the stuff he is doing. WELL! That’s the tricks I should have been doing all along. So then I picked up a Yomega Maverick and started loving the string tricks.
Greg pointed me to he Chinese line of Magic Yoyo off of Ebay and I got a T5 and I now have a N9 on order.
I am just learning them so I am mastering my binds, some mounts and the odd little tricks. Having a lot of fun in the process.
I took advantage of the Gentry Pack and grabbed a red and black GFunk and a Shadow Edition Super G. REALLY looking foward to getting these.
My next purchase will be a small one like the Popstar or if I can find one, the Token
Cheers!
Haha! Welcome aboard, groan! Had a feeling I’d see you posting in this thread soon.
If you didn’t notice yet, the YYF special today is a Popstar and Superwide for the staggering price of $20.
Well I kind of gravitate to forums…
Thanks for the heads up! I look forward to my new Orange Popstar!
Hello everyone. I’m Angelo, I’m 31, and I just picked up yoyoing last week. My daughter’s teacher got her a yoyo for Easter last friday and I wanted to show her how to use it. I never played with a yoyo as a kid, but I was surprised that I was able to do a basic gravity pull (I didn’t know that’s what it was called of course) and was thrilled. My daughter is 4 and gave up immediately, but I wanted to see what else I could do. I came on this and other websites and learned what a sleeper was. I spent the entire weekend trying to figure it out and I finally did! I was super stoked and immediately broke my daughter’s cheap yoyo. I did some research and ended up deciding on a Maverick based off some Amazon review and spent the remainder of the week distracted at work and waiting for my yoyo. I obsess over any new hobby and have been reading everything I can on general yoyo stuff (parts, etc). Still, once I got the Maverick I immediately thought I may have made a mistake, that it was a bit too much for me, but I’m going to stick with it and hope it forces me to learn good habits.
I thought I was too old to get any good, but I really enjoy playing with this thing and I feel like I’ve gotten better everyday. We’ll see how I hold up when I get to the intermediate stuff (I’ve read beginner advancement passes quickly). Anyways, thanks for reading, looking forward to peppering the forums with noobie questions (actually, the search function has been awesome, which is rare in forums).
Welcome! First of all, the Maverick isn’t “too much”. It won’t be long before you want more.
Next, be assured that there’s lots of us old guys. My son’s almost 4 and although he’s interested in yoyo as a spectator (and occasionally tries to smash them up a bit) he’s not really “into” it yet. Maybe when he’s 6!
Finally, ask away! We’re all here to share in the joy of yo… “noobs” and experienced players alike!
I also started with the Maverick. Great responsive yoyo that will naturally lose it’s responsiveness and force you to learn the more interesting tricks!
As for too old. I just picked up my hobby again after being away from it for as long as you’ve been alive!
I’v 45 and wish i’d have stuck with it when i was tossing a Coca Cola edition Russel in 1982!
Have fun, keep us posted and be ready to buy more yoyos! Start socking away some money. And also know that you do not need to spend $100 ona yoyo. I’ve now increased my collection to 6 and i spent no more than $30 on the most expensive ove the bunch. Watch for deals and check out the BST thread.
What’s up?
My name is Will Hahn. I’ve been throwing for almost 2 years. I run the Yolex Skill Toy Club in Roseville, CA and I am part of the journalism team for Yoyoskills.com.
I first started yoyoing when I started working at Learning Express Toys (the store which Yolex is linked to). I thought yoyoing looked cool, but I didn’t feel like trying to pursue it. Then my boss came up to me and said “Will, you’re going to learn how to yoyo!” Seriously, word for word. Cory Hendon (now a member of Chico Yoyo Company) set me up with a Freehand Zero and showed me braintwister. Things just took off from there. I’ve developed a rather technical style for 1A. I started to pursue 5A about a month ago and it’s been tough, but fun.
Here’s me in my latest video. A trick dump compilation vid.
So yeah, me in a nutshell
Hey all!
