My name is Jake Wiens.
I’m a professional kendama player for Kendama USA living in San Francisco.
Founded and still runnin www.thekengarden.com
Recently obsessed with YOYO. Ive been making more and more friends that throw and finding out they are trying to learn kendama. Massive skill trade offs happen. I’m stoked to learn more yoyo and teach more kendama.

I love moving what I learn from YoYo into my kendama play. I’m working on how to move my kendama play into my yoyo play without loosing teeth.
Hi I’m Chris currently a college student that picked up unresponsive play just last Christmas.
I would say that I’m within the Advanced section so far
I love how we are always learning in this sport and I love my Dark Magic II and am planning on getting a Genesis.
Anyway I heard about this website mainly because it kindda ‘reviews’ alot of yoyos and also because of my main man Andre Boulay! I definitely learned the tricks of the trade from him and have to thank him for that!
Hey! My name is Max, I’ve had yoyo’s kinda floating around my house since about 6th or 7th grade. My step brother gave me his duncan throw monkey when he moved out and I was stuck on brain twister forever never really trying hard to learn anything new. Recently had a backpack stolen out of my friend’s car with that yoyo in it, so while looking to replace it I found this community and started getting back into it!
I bought another throw monkey (cause I love that yoyo and want to get into 5A down the road) and a CLYW avalanche. Working on my binds and split the atom right now.
What is your name?
Kirk
What is your quest?
to become a fantastic musical artist and yoyo… uh, ist?
What is you’re favorite color?
um, blue, No! Green!! Ahhhhhhhhhggggg.
I’m a crazy kid, 19 years of age, been at yoyoing since I was little, but got serious about five years ago. I don’t really think of my self as good, but I enjoy throwin’ none the less. Although I love yoyoing my first love is music. Though, I’m a nerd through and through, I quote firefly to doctor who and play Magic the gathering too.
I think I found this site by a link on yoyonation, when i was looking to learn some tricks. now i see that they have club listings here and so to contact one i joined up.
Ello my name is Atom. I’m fairly new to the world of throwing. I’ve been throwing for about 2 months now. Have gotten most of the basics done, and am working towards learning new tricks. This is a very addicting hobby, and a ton of fun. It’s kind of funny In my area I’m one of the only throwers I know of, and have a ton of people that ask me why I’m playing with a child’s toy. I just tell them it’s not only for children and its a blast. However, I still get a bunch of odd looks. Lol Well any way that’s me as thanks for taking the time to read.
Hey, I’m Dylan. 29 years old and new to unresponsive yoyos. I threw an o.g. bumblebee in high school but I didn’t take it seriously. I could maybe hit trapeze 1 in 10 times and the only trick I knew was braintwister… I stopped throwing after high school 11 years ago…
Last christmas my parents got me a $5 Duncan Classic just as a throw-in gift (no pun intended…) and my immediate reaction was YES THAT’S WHAT’S BEEN MISSING FROM MY LIFE… A couple weeks later I picked up a Raider on a whim, and was immediately hooked again! After doing braintwister a couple of times I thought “it’s about time I learned the dreaded split the atom!” and I grabbed the yomega trick booklet that came with my Raider, which as we all know is utterly useless. After stressing for 10 minutes about what the pages were trying to tell me, I slapped my forehead, and went online (I feel old…)
Minutes later I had discovered yoyoexpert. 20 minutes after that I was landing split the atom. 20 minutes after that I was doing Atom Smasher. 2 days later I ordered a DV888 which was delayed badly until Feb. 5, and by that time I had pretty well perfected the beginner and intermediate trick lists, except mach 5 and ripcord.
So I got my DV888 and within an hour I was landing half the stuff on the advanced trick list (as well as ripcord and mach 5). Cold fusion came quickly, The Zipper, Plastic Whip, The Matrix etc. etc.
My Genesis arrived Feb. 13 and again pushed my game thanks to a much better stability. Mcbride Roller Coaster came that day, Buddha’s Revenge and Skin the Gerbil shortly after. Just the other day I started hitting Magic Drops and Kwijibo. Totally in love with yoyo and ashamed that I didn’t show it the respect it deserved when I first started to throw.
Mostly I throw in the evening, since I work the night-shift at a grocery store and don’t have much time during the day to throw. Sometimes I throw on my lunch break and today I did Cold fusion right into Mcbride’s Roller coaster right into Matrix and a co-worker was like “Isn’t that hard?” I said “well yeah, it’s aluminum, so it’s pretty hard.” ;D
Hello, people of Earth. Many know me as Cameron, and I was born not 15 years ago. After 4 months of finger-blistering practice, I finally decided to register on these forums. As far as my skill level goes I suppose I’m not bad. Pretty recently I moved on from the YYE tuts and started working on my own moves and combos. I’m more than happy throwing my trusty YYF Northstar, but I’m itching to move onto a metal as soon as possible (I absolutely love grinding tricks, but smooth plastic is not very forgiving on bare skin). The two things that have eluded me so far in yoyoing are boingy-boing and horizontal tricks. When I’m not preparing for the NE Regionals in April, I enjoy reading, writing, drawing, gaming, and playing Magic the Gathering. I am a total geek.
Hey my profile name is yoyo z my favorite yoyos are dark magic 2 and the god destiny.my favorite tricks are nuclear test, kamikaze, and some that I created.which reminds me do any of you know how to send new yoyo tricks into yoyo 365.are any of you pros just curious.I'm in 9 grade and I like rip sticks, and scooters.
hi my name is arianna and i am from georgia. i have been yo yoing for about 4 years now, but sadly i dont have the money to get the nice yo yos i want. i can do a few simple tricks because sadly walmart yo yos are awful, but i currently own a stunt pilot yo yo which i love. i found out about this site when i was looking for some new string and i hope to use it more often and maybe get myself a new yo yo i cant better my “skills” with
If you want to get into string tricks, all it takes to go as far as you want is a YoyoJam Classic ($10); if you’re already to experiment with bind-required play, add an extra YoyoExpert bearing ($6) and you’re set.
Hi,
My name is Tom and I’m old.
I used to yoyo all the time with a fixed axle back in the 80’s and 90’s. I quit for many years.
Now I have kids and they asked about my yoyo collection a couple of months ago. I wanted to see how to do some new tricks and checked out YouTube and my head exploded. I got a Plastic Grind Machine and have been practicing away ever since. I find it’s a great thing to go to when I’m stuck on a problem at work. I yoyo for a little bit and always come up with an answer.
About half the people in the “introduce yourself” thread, and in the forum itself, are “old”. You’re in good company, and the younger people on this forum are awesome, too.
Hi there,
My name is Brenda my friend’s call me Bren. I’m a soon to be 50 year old professional photographer from NB Canada. My website is www.brenphotographie.ca. I was shopping for printer ink on Amazon a couple of months ago and I came upon some yoyos. I’ve always loved yoyos from when I first played those cheap plastic ones at around age 5. I ordered a yoyo factory DV888. Checked out some videos on youtube then found this website. I was amazed at how the yoyo has evolved over the last 45 years! It took me a couple of hours just to get a decent bind but I was litterally hooked! I added a few more yoyos to my collection a magic yoyo n9, a YYF velocity, the Paul Han Onestar, and a four beast Speedteam. Last week during the EYYC 2013 championship I happened upon a Etan ‘‘Momo’’ video doing finger spins %$?%" unbelieveable! So that’s my new goal! Mind you I’m very tenacious! This is a great website! I love to see what’s new and happening and the video lesson’s are vital. We are so lucky to have the internet we have such invalubale knowledge at our finger tips. 15 years ago it would have been impossible for us develop our passions to such level be it learning music, DIY projects, yoyoing you name it. Looking forward to keeping in touch with you guys! Keep spinning!
Welcome, Bren! Lots of Canadians around here. Some great amateur videographers and photographers around, as well. Some of us are regular contributors to an “amateur yoyo photography” thread, found here:
I’m sure nobody would mind a professional popping in, though.
Have fun! Fingerspins are a new interest of mine, too. The yoyo I use accomplishes them the opposite way of Momo (a flat or even indented spot in the center of the cup), with center spikes allowing you to do “matador” play. Just figured out how to bind back from the spin a few days ago; working on getting it smooth.
