Introduce Yourself!

Hello There Yoyoers! My name is CJ. I live on Vancouver Island in Canada. I am quite new to this incredibly fun sport. My 8 year old son has been trying to yoyo for the last 4 years but hasn’t quite had the coordination until now. He and I pulled out our ancient wooden fixed axle yoyo’s and started just playing together. We are both hooked. My son is playing on a yomega Raider. I recently got a black knight by yyj at a reduced price in town…because they have not been selling…nobody knows how to use them. Been watching all the videos on yoyoexpert. AMAZING. Had no idea how much fun this could get. Big jump from the traditional up and down yoyo! ;D I admit that I suck!!! I could not figure out the Black Knight. Sooo I double looped it, tightened it and threw it hard until I got it to return. Not doing too bad now. I am only at “man on trapeze” and “dizzy brain” or something like that. Working on Bind returns and looking forward to the fancy stuff that most of you can do. CAN ANYBODY MAKE A SUGGESTION ON A GOOD YOYO FOR MY LEVEL? Been looking at: The Vigilante, Micro Mo, Dark Knight II, and the Hitman Pro. The local toy store is willing to give me a good discount on a Lyn Fury or a kickside. I am ignorant…any suggestions would be great. Oh I AM A PROUD MOTHER OF 40 YEARS OLD WHOSE 8 YEAR OLD SON HAS BEEN INSPIRED BY YOYO ING…THAT HE IS JOINING A TALENT SHOW NEXT WEEK!!! ;D ;D ;D There seems to be Zero community of yoyoing here in BC Canada, yet the other students and their parents have been so impressed by his ability to do :creeper, rock the cradle, breakaway, jamaican flag, and the eiffel tower…that he is drawing a crowd…shy as he is. I am a very proud mommy! Thank you for all of your support, videos, advice and suggestions.

Try learning the individual elements and figuring out how to get from the element into a double or nothing, or something like that. I am currently learning Ladder Escape, but I am learning it in the stages presented – giving myself some time to get used to getting into the mount and dismounting in different ways. This helps create the various lines that you will need to create a freestyle.

The dark magic 2 would be a good yoyo for your level it has a responsive bearing and a nonresponsive,so you can go from beginner to expert

Hi, my name is Dustin. I have been yo-yoing since I was little kid. I started with an old school Imperial style yo-yo. I am now 26 and have a YYF Protostar. I don’t have just one favorite trick I just enjoy yo-yoing all together.

Hello everyone, name’s Dan. I’m 23 and I’ve recently re-acquainted myself with throwing in these past few weeks and my steps thus far have brought me here! I’m an intermediate player but I’m working towards hopefully mastering some of this stuff. Here’s a little about me for anyone who isn’t tl;dr

I first became obsessed with yoyos around age 14 when my middle school was visited by Helane Zeiger, so her book world on a string -which I still have a signed copy of somewhere ;D- was my first real exposure to yoyos. After a while I eventually shifted most of my time from throwing to music and guitar and took an unfortunately long hiatus.
Apparently I was living under a rock this entire time cause I was totally oblivious to how yoyos have changed and unresponsive play, etc… I came across one of Mickey’s tourney vids on youtube and :o
I had no idea stuff like this was possible! Obviously its a lot of work getting to a point where you can have that kind of control, but it sparked my interest so I’m eager to get into it again. I’m a little late on the bandwagon, but I figure you’re never too old to learn

I recently bought a WHiP to familiarize myself a little and thanks to Andre’s tutorials I’m getting the fundamentals down. Binding, split the atom, boing-e boing, working on my side throws and double or nothing, plastic whips, so on and so forth… that’s kinda the level I’m at.

If anyone has anyone recommendations for throws, I’m all ears…
I’m looking to get an upgrade to a heavier weight (after the whip). I still knock the yoyo into things at times so I don’t think I’m ready to get a decent metal yet, but from what I’ve read on the site the protostar and northstar seem to both be really good for the price. If anyone has any other throws in the <$35 range I’d appreciate suggestions.

Anyways I look forward to posting more and of course learning as much as I can!

P.S. Anyone throwing in the greater Los Angeles area?

Hi my name is deck.

Well, nice to meet you!

Do you have anything else to share?

Hey! YoYo World
My name is James and I am an old school yoyo fan that has recently sparked a new interest in it, and boy have the tools and tricks changed drastically. well getting back into it the yoyo’s im currently using are Duncan Freakhand Freehand, though im not yet ready to let go of the string and put the counter-weight to use, my second is a Yomega Dash, since i need a little help landing the string tricks. So wish me luck and feel free to offer any tips to a newbie.

Hello

Hello everybody!

My name is Rudy. Im 17 and I live in upstate new york where yoing really isn’t all that popular. In fact me and 202andrew are the only ones that do it in a close proximity as far as im aware. But i’m a hammer thrower normally, i train for that 24/7, but on my spare time i’ve picked up yoyoing. Nothing truly like it i must say. I’m in about 3 months or so and haven’t not done it since the day i started. I use a yyj chaser and a OD markmont next as of now. I just ordered a recrev Facade and cant wait till it arrives! I can do almost all the tricks on this site up to expert, and i can do some of those aswell of course. I love making up new tricks and combos which i cant wait to share and discuss with all of you in due time.

Im tom

This makes me happy,

anything else to share?

I’m me.

Okay, I know you did this because your my bro.

Maybe…

I actually did that in mockery of the others.

My names Devin. Im just outside Orlando Florida in a town called Oviedo. I used to throw back in middle school but havnt picked it up for about ten or twelve years until about three months ago. I started back with a yomega dash but quickly maxed out its potential. Moved the the YYJ Dark Magic II with a Terrapin X Wing bearing and some Toxic 100% Polyester. Ive completed all advanced tricks except for couple which I dont really like and am moving on to the expert tricks. Felling kind of lonely out here though dont know any other throwers or places that they gather. Need someone to feed off of to get better.

Isn’t the world yo-yo contest in Florida?

Orlando Throwers is obviously in Orlando.

It’s on here.

Hey Everyone,

Ive been on this forum for some time now… But I thought I would just introduce myself finally.

Name is Ryan Johnson

Ive been yoyoing for over three years and play everyday. Literally there is no time where I don’t have a yoyo on me or near me.

I’ve come to appreiciate all sorts of yoyoing and the different styles people bring to the table. Developing my style was probably the hardest part for me, but through struggle I succeeded in creating a very Flowable style…

I just got accepted to the G Squared Team and beyond excited to work with Brett & Jacob along with all my team mates.

Here’s the video that got me there.

Enjoy!
