Introduce Yourself!

Hello!

My name is Christopher and I’m from Oregon.

When I was 12 I had received a Yomega Brain and fell in love with it. Then through countless moves from city to city, I ended up losing it. Life happened and I forgot about that Brain. Then the other day, the week before Christmas 2011, I was in a Toys R Us myself and saw an endcap full of yo-yos. The first one that caught my eye was the Yomega Brains in all colors of the rainbow it seemed. Along side them were Duncan Metal Drifters, Freakhands and another one I found interesting, a Yomega Fireball.

Fastforward to today’s posting date: I have been throwing every day since that day I stumbled into Toys R Us; my Fireball is my favorite looping yo-yo right now (I have my eye on both the Loop 900 and the Yomega Raider) and I purchased a YoYoFactory Starter Kit and have been using THAT yo-yo to practice my string tricks. Between that yo-yo and a Duncan Mosquito, it’s hard choosing which is my favorite for string tricks. (Eventually I want to graduate to a Dark Magic II or a Duncan Metropolis)

It’s hard work, but I am loving every attempt at every trick and even practicing my fundamentals: throwing straight, throwing hard and my binds. ;D

All 3 are not perfect every time, but that’s what practice is for.

I’m in the Salem area and would love to meet with other yo-yoers to share tricks and tips and just have a good time enjoying what is obviously the greatest thing in the universe!

Greetings fellow throw-monkeys!

I’m Ryan, from California. I first got into yoyos back in the late 90’s, in high school, during that little resurgence period where everyone had a yoyo for about a week. Learned a few tricks (Yomega Saber Raider FTW!), then kind of fell out of it for a while.

Fast forward several years and I’m working this boring tech support job when I see a fellow employee playing with a yoyo at his desk. That reignited the spark, and I headed down to the local Toys’R’Us and picked up a FHZ. I had never seen a counterweight yoyo before and had to give this a try. Learned a few more tricks, and again sort of fell out of it for a while. Recently decided to pick it back up and been throwing pretty casually ever since.

A while back I picked up a YYJ Kickside, based on the positive things people were saying about it in regards to freehand play. Loved it, but it got stolen (booo!), replaced it with a YYJ Pinnacle about a month ago, loving this little thing so far. Ultimately I’d like to get a good high end metal, and learn some serious tricks but money is tight right now (planning a wedding!), so it’s a distant dream. For now I’m still delighted throwing my cheap plastics.

Oh! I also got my fiance into it, got herself a cute purple Kickside, and she can already do some simple stuff like brain twister. Clearly, we were meant to be together

Happy throwing!

Hey guys,

My name is Blaine and I’m more or less a newbie,I’m 25, I played around with a yoyo back in junior high for awhile but never really thought much of it. Picked one up again today and I couldnt believe how much fun I had playing with it and learning stuff right off the bat.

I’m throwing a yoyofactory One(lime green) and a Spyy Ronin (Orange/Black) and having tons of fun surfing through the tutorials and just craving to learn more(pissing off my fiance while im at it).

Welcome I hope you can get down the basics and move on to the advanced stuff it’s really cool stuff.

Enjoy the forums and learn a lot.

Be sure to get the beginner and intermediate tricks down well. They form a strong foundation for the more advanced tricks. If you cannot land something, move and and try it again later. I usually do not spend more than a day or two on a single trick before I move on to something else. You can always come back. For instance, I can land “And Whut” off the Master’s level list, but I just landed “Revolutions” which is on a lower list. Just take it in stride, push yourself, and have fun!
