Incredibly Looney Listings

I didn’t say you specifically said that. I said you made it sound that way.

And I didn’t specifically say that you said that I said that.

You just made it seem like that was my intent.

Read my post again, genius

……. Your turn

Let’s play ‘outsmart Grandpa’.

:person_shrugging: Whatever, man. You know what your intention was as much as I do. The difference is that I don’t play word games to try to get out of it.

Yes, he is. He needs to get his car repaired after his basketball ring fell on his car, so - why not. And people gladly helping him.

Hey!!! I wanna get in on this too !!

I wanna “say” you specifically “said” something that someone else “said” you “said”

Soooo, Whatta ya “say” to what I “said” ?!?!:joy::rofl::joy:

Well just think of it this way. If I say something and then you say that I meant something and then I say that I was specifically saying something slightly different than what I meant and you say that you felt I was insinuating something that I wasn’t because your personal opinion was that I wasn’. And I say if you read something else again and realize that I didn’t specifically say what you specifically said I said or insinuated what I said and then you say that I misunderstand the misunderstanding by not understanding what was misunderstood if that was our common understanding to misunderstand what we thought we understood but really did it then we have a problem me specifically speaking for myself my own personal opinion would be that I have absolutely no idea what I just said or what the specific problem would be but I’m sure since you want to get in on this you’ll probably say specifically what you thought that I insinuated when I said what I said because you said what you said as a result of me saying what you thought I said even though I might not of said what you thought I said but you thought I did but I didn’t but then neither one of us is a mind reader so I guess we’re almost even if you understand what even means but then if you don’t even means we’re not done yet and you have a better spin on what specifically I meant by what I just said if you know what I mean but then maybe you don’t but there may be somebody else does I’m sure I don’t do you?

Can we not just agree it’s an absurd price? Whether it’s “worth it” to some collectors or not really doesn’t change the fact that it’s selling for an unusually high price, and neither do the circumstances of the sale. And in the end - That’s the point of this thread right?

I had a roommate who always said "But please misunderstand me wrong … "

Ok at the end of the day ANY Yoyo above 150$ is “Looney” to me
Because let’s be real ,when paying THAT price , the thing isn’t gonna be thrown enough to get the your monies worth and often ends up as “shelf queens” doing the exact opposite of its “Intended purpose”

but that’s just the opinion of a broke Mf’r who can’t afford throws above 150$ :joy::joy::joy::joy:

It’s a collector piece. So someone who is a collector of G2 will decide what it’s worth to them. I do love me some G2 throw. But not that much. If I had the means and the inclination, I’d throw down my dollars. I do not have either though. So, I agree that this qualifies as a loony listing, at least to me. Obviously, others will disagree. And that, my friends, is what makes this crazy world go round.

Hopefully, Jake makes enough on the sale to cover his unexpected expense.

Happy holidays everyone.

Wow that was some interesting reading.

My first instinct is this is so a Loony listing, and the winner of this auction will know how Todd McFarlane feels about his Mark McGwire’s 70th home run ball. Payed 3 mill for it, now worth nothing due to Barry Bonds.

I just peaked at that G2 and it’s currently at $830 US, it might stop there but may break 1k. I know not 3 mil, but the interest in this color way is now proven to be there.

I mean seriously, you know this is going to become a production color way, then what will this G2 be worth?

I doubt we will see it again on a Banshee. He will likely want to maintain it’s 1/1 rarity. As long as he does that, it will keep it’s “value”, regardless of the colorway being released on other models. This could turn into the next Rainicorn. A once-per-model colorway in very low quantity. If he starts doing that, the collectors will offer crazy money to be able to complete the collection.

however, if to do something “of value”, the way is to do one thing only once, which instead could be redone indefinitely … one should easily understand that there is nothing of value in all this.

I’d do it if it were me.
The demand is obviously there.
If he can make $1000 on a single throw, why wouldn’t he? More power to him.
Let those with the means buy them up at loony prices. Give Jake your money so he can upgrade his equipment and develop products for the rest of us to enjoy, at not insane prices.

Keep doing what you’re doing @G2_Jake . I will continue to support what you do because I think you make some of the best throws around. I’m not dropping $800 on one but I’m not going to hate on those who can.

This reminds me of the filler when a website is hacked.

Eh I’ll just throw my 2 cents in as a person who occasionally spends way too much on spinny things.

I don’t think this is an absurd price. G2 swirls already go for pretty crazy amounts on here and for the most part just aren’t sold. I don’t think any of us would be surprised to see a-grade mint swirls sell for the 300-350$ range on this forum?

Now you’ve got a 1 of 1 being sold directly from G2 in a one of a kind colorway. Surely to the collectors this is worth that price?

— So after writing that out I checked the current price… maybe now it’s getting a little wild at 840$ especially considering there’s 3 DAYS left. This will be a fun one to watch maybe we can start taking bets on where it will finish at lol

I think the last 5 minutes of the auction are going to be crazy. No doubt that there are people waiting until closer to the end before bidding.

From 50 years of attending actual ‘auctions’(the kind where you have to 1. Register with legit identification 2. Meet various requirements to attend the auction in the first place and 3. You have to put down a refundable cash deposit(to prove you’re not just there to take up space>

There are 2 very happy people at the end of every item closing: 1st the person that won the item and 2nd, an hour after the auction, the person that didn’t win(after replaying the bidding in their head and realizing they got caught up in the bidding and almost paid waaaaay more than the item was even close to being worth).

Remember, an item isn’t necessarily worth what you paid for it. More often than not, an item cost you what it took to win it and has little to do with its actual worth.

Experienced people at authentic auctions usually have a certain procedure. They study what’s being auctioned. They try to investigate its authenticity. And…. About a dozen other factors, blah, blah…….

But one of the main things they do is to decide a ‘stop number’. A $ amount they will just not pass: PERIOD!

That keeps the emotional factor out of it.

I was at a car auction about 40 years ago. One of the items on the block was a Ferrari. Just a red Ferrari. Really nice, but just a red Ferrari.

One of the guys bidding on the car was an end user. (Meaning he was not an investor, he was not a reseller and he was not a proxy bidder/bidding on someone else’s’ behalf.

Well, a few guys got into a heated bidding war. And the car sold for more than the actual retail price for a Brand New Ferrari.

The 81 year Old guy that won the Auction, just wanted to WIN. He owned a Mexican Food Product Company and the money was no problem for him. His family sure wore him out on paying over retail, lol.

But the happier guy was the one that stopped bidding and lost the Ferrari. I can still see his million dollar smile.

This is about what I think is happening here. Somebody just has to ‘Get’ that yoyo. Understanding what it isn’t worth is not a consideration.

I have little doubt the happier person when the smoke clears is the person that ‘almost’ won but didn’t.

I do agree, that if that yoyo is your Grail and you have the funds, then that is your mission to pay what it takes…

But never rationalize that something is often worth what ever people are willing to pay for it. More often it isn’t.

Jake is a nice guy. And he produces nice products.

That’s all
