Idk what im doing wrong. I land the loop, then rotate yoyo off finger, and then suddenly the loop has my main string in between the loop, so im not sure what im doing wrong. Am i catching the loop on wrong part of string?
Can you take a video?
I will certainly try lol
I do this a lot (on accident) and had to break it down for myself. What I believe is going wrong is the loop coming around your TH finger needs to catch the back half (closest to you) of the yo-yo. If it catches the front half (furthest from you) then we end up with that string crossing situation.
I’m not proficient with the move yet but think the solution is to bring your TH closer to your body or toss the yo more towards the tip of that TH finger sticking out.
Also check string tension often but yeah aim for back half of Yoyo
Sounds like a string tension issue to me as well
Same thing happens when i reset string tension. I think its where im aiming. Im totally aiming for the inward part of yoyo.
I think im making my loop too big maybe?
The string on your finger should open a bit and make a U. one side of the U goes in the gap and the other towards you. There is a way that you can whip it like too far and it goes around and snags the other side of the Yoyo and it will end up with that twist also. try to catch it at the bottom of the U. I try to go slow and land it best like that but some ppl do it fast and crush it. it helps me up be able to see the string open up. this is like super hard also and takes just a ton of practice also just keep at it and varying your attempts to see what’s working and try to lock in the feel when you do hit it.
Loosening string tension usually always fixes this for me
This title is exactly me right now. When I go to roll out it’s in a mount that you can do like an upside down GT or go into a GT and brother. I’ve gotten it proper a handful of times but this other way almost every time. I think its the way my hands are aligned maybe or how I am intercepting it? I am almost positive it isn’t string tension. Any ideas? Just was messing with how I position my hands but made me lose my muscle memory and couldn’t catch it.
edit: Just hit it with my hands re-positioned. Don’t think it’s that. All I can think is it’s what Henry said above about how it’s being intercepted.
Do you have a video?
I made it a goal to get good at beefhook. Current record is over 30 in a row.
Happy to help!
I’ve been having the same problem… frustrating as hell…
Try to catch the Yoyo right at the end of the U shape of slack so that the slack can’t continue to rotate around and mess up the trick. And yeah always keep up w string tension bc it kind of matters at first. Not sure exactly what the issue is but those are my most likely things. Also make sure to hit the back half of the Yoyo. Good luck y’all!
Thanks I think it definitely is where I’m intercepting it. I’m gonna work on that. I got it a couple times the proper way last night after that. I’ll post a slow motion video when I get home tonight.
Thanks. This trick took me forever to get down, and I’m 100% sure whatever it is I can help!
I hope so man! Appreciate it.
Here’s a video in 1/8. Quality isn’t too great on my phone with slow motion in 1/8. I can take a normal video if it helps. Thanks for your help and Henry’s help too. Appreciate it.
You are doing an absolute TON right.
Two things if I am seeing right in the video
-
you are intercepting with the string closest to you. You want to hit with the string further away from you. I think that will solve your problem.

get that NTH moving a bit. Pulling it away at the right time ( practice this timing ) will really get those strong whipping around. But you have to learn the timing and everything for your own way of doing it.
The way you do it now with 90% just your throw hand intercepting and moving the strings will make it all so much easier as it really gets everything in the right position.
Great work! Pm me if you need to, but let me know if landing on the other string solves it!!
