Any tips on how to remove an old g5 bearing from this funky axel yyf used to use lol
Oh dear. I would wrap it in several layers of duct tape, then use pliers to start unscrewing it. Go easy.
Oh snap you mean unscrew the entire axel? It seems super locked in, are these able to be taken out? @Glenacius_K
I just assumed could be unscrewed, but yeah, maybe you can’t… if you can’t the only way would be to grip the outer surface of the bearing and use the rock-and-yank technique. This would almost certainly damage the bearing though.
You might want to join the @yyfben2.deactivated FB Group. So you don’t FUBAR
Ya thats what i tried with no luck sadly, im headed to AZ for Nats maybe i can swing by YYF headquarters and see if they can help?

I’m the 888 days I believe the axles got tuned and then glued.
When I removed these bearings I just used needle nose pliers to grip the bearing and wiggle it off the post
Ya thats whayt ive been attempting to do but there is literally no wiggle so im afraid of bending the axel or something
Would LOVEEE to play this but the bearing is dead dead and stuck af lol
Here’s somethig that coumd work if you’re patient. Spray the contact area with WD-40, the let it sit overnight. It might just give you enough movement to get the wiggle started.
You can always use the freezer trick to help get it off. Throw it in for 10-20 mins and it should hopefully loosen.
Freezing as we speak if that doesnt work then to w D40 it is
Thank you very much to all who responded, love this community
I’d definitely try take the axle out then many get a socket head and try tap the axle out of the bearing rather than try pull the bearing off.
Concentric it’s on that yo-yo was set with bearing fit to axle so it had to be tight to be smooth. If it flared up a little it might just be on one side and if you get the axle off it should be easier
Thank you for the response Ben! Any tips on how YOU would personally remove an axel like this? It seems extremely tight and i dont want to ruin a little piece of yoyofactory history
Get two hex nuts that fit onto the threading of the axle, screw them both on and then unscrew the bottom one. That should unscrew the entire axle from the yoyo half.
That should remove it without any damage to the axle itself, I just realized how unique that axle is.
I may resort to that, massive thank you for the tip my friend
What Mable said here, lock up one nut against another and go slow.
First run g5. They were all like that. I think that mine might be slightly bent and no chance of finding a new one.
