Rest in peace Frank.
Frank was one of my absolute favorite people I’ve met in my time in yoyoing. He was relentlessly upbeat, even when he was annoyed, and he was endlessly supportive of my every endeavour. He was just a good person who enjoyed being kind and he saw the value in everything.
We hadn’t spoken in some years but every conversation I had with him was damn good fun.
So long, Frank. You’re one of the best.
Man this hits. Good vibes towards yoyo doc and Franks family. What a contribution Frank made to the yo-yo
Industry and community. A real legend.
It feels like yesterday that I was at his house. I can’t believe he’s gone. Frank was one of the nicest people I have ever met.
I’m so sorry for your loss man, don’t beat yourself up that you didn’t call back. He clearly loved you and you loved him. That’s all that matters. Thanks for informing all of us good sir.
A legend was lost this week, thank you for sharing the news with us. He made such a revolutionary impact on yoyo and bearing design, and, by the comments I’ve seen here and elsewhere, it’s clear he made an even bigger positive impact on people.
Rest in peace Frank, you will be greatly missed, even by many who you’ve never met! Thank you to everyone here who has or will share memories they’ve had with Frank, it’s been really wonderful reading how he’s touched so many lives for good
RIP Frank. Thank you for all that you do.
RIP Frank, massive loss for the yoyoing community =[
What to say … Frank was a kind, generous dude. When he heard that someone nicked my Juggernaut, a new one landed in my mailbox a couple days later with a note from him. My kids still think the 2007 World’s Crossbones is the best looking yoyo ever, and that the YYG x-bones is a close second. Agreed.
Thanks for posting, @yoyodoc RIP Frank.
What a tragedy for his family and friends and a big loss for the community.
Please express my condolences.
Jeff
Extremely sorry to hear this. Frank was a wonderful human and a big part of midschool yoyoing and the technological growth during that time. I’m going to dig out some Dif throws and put them in the rotation again. It’s been too long anyway.
I can’t find any of my photos of Frank. But here’s a sparkle blue powdercoated barebones from back in the day…
What a weird and kind of shitty thing to say.
Ty….
I hope you can look through the replies in this post and learn just who he was and why this means so much to many of us.
The reply you left comes across very disrespectful and I hope you can understand that this is not the image you want to represent yourself.
If you’re at all into the yoyo world (which I’m assuming you are since you joined this forum) then you should understand that the yoyo world as we know it exist because of individuals like Frank who passed.
Take this into consideration and I hope you can grow from this.
Weird that shitty wasn’t censored, but what you said
I can only share everyone’s shock and grief for Frank, his family, and all who knew and love him.
This truly sucks. Frank was that dude. Such an amazing guy and progressive to our community. He will be greatly missed.
I first met Frank in the early 2000’s. I had him mod a FH1 for me (wish i still had it), my first all aluminum yoyo and Dif E Yo was a sportster. Fast forward, i took a break and we began to talk again about 9 years ago as my collection grew. The talks we would have were about driving corvettes and the old times of Daves Skill Toys and life in general. What a super guy with a great sense of humor. I will miss him.
Absolutely gutted to hear the news. I recently have been on the hunt to obtain some old Dif-e-Yos that I used to own and then to my surprise and excitement a few months ago Frank came back onto the scene with the announcement he was making some new revamped models. It’s such a sad and unfortunate and sudden thing to have happened to such a good person. Frank was an absolute stand up guy I just can’t believe it. He’s going to be greatly missed.
The impact he had on this community is astronomical.
R.I.P. Frank, you were one of a kind. Thank you for the memories!

Frank was always such a pleasure to talk to. I remember years ago he helped me out by re-tapping a sparkly blue holographic powder coated 401k for me. When he was done with it, it played better than a brand new one! It was so smooth and I don’t think he even charged me for it, he was just happy to help someone out - just because. That just seemed like the kind of guy he was. Definitely will never forget him or the impact he had on this hobby.
R.I.P. to one of the finest machinists on earth. Many can make a smooth yoyo, but he was the only one that I know of that could make it look like a Cadillac rim and still be dead smooth.
