Hidemasa hook question

I have been learning the hidemasa hook. I learned the the way where the string ends up around the wrist. I have been watching some tutorials and noticed some people only wrap around the finger and not the wrist. Is one way or the other correct? Are there different aplications for one or the other?

In my experience it seems to be the same movements just adjusted a little bit, I actually learned from the video where it wraps over the wrist but 99% of the time when I land it it’s just around my finger

doesnt really matter ime like wrist will create more space if you want that for the next element. Just finger looks a little bit cleaner imo. Just whip closer to the yoyo to keep the U shape of slack more narrow and that will keep it on the finger or keep hand further away and it’ll go over the wrist. Just on the finger makes stuff like double and triple hooks easier imo

It doesn’t really matter the more popularized version is the finger one. One time with a really long string I did it around my leg.

I did it around my shoulder lol

it’s much easier to do back to back hooks when you can whip only around your finger (because then you angle your finger down, drop the strings and rewhip around)
