Help with a trick!

Hey folks.

Can someone help me with this Diego B trick:

At 3:42 he gets into the “green triangle” type mount. I can do this fine. However, I find when I do the motion at 4:13, the string going down to the throw is too short, hence the whole mount rotates rather than just the throw.

It’s like my green triangle mount above the yoyo is too short. If I adjust it to make it longer, then the follow up motion works fine.

However, when I try getting into the original mount the position is always too short, initially.

Any ideas?

I will try to learn the trick, and I might be able to help

Cheers.

Hope my explanation made sense.

Can you send a video? I am having trouble picturing this or recreating it when doing the trick. This was a TaW last year tho so a bunch of people here know the trick and we can get you sorted out for sure. Just not exactly sure what is going wrong rn

I’m out ATM. But will send something over when I can.

It’s hard to explain, but I think the mount / string position above the yoyo is too close to the yoyo. Hence, when I am to roll it over, the string is too short and thus the whole mount rotates and not just the yoyo.

I am still a little uncertain so a vid would help or maybe someone else knows exactly what you mean and has the answer. But yeah whenever you’re able a vid would help no rush at all tho yo!

Excuse the feet :joy:

I try to show the position I end up, but also, if I adjust the mount I can then do the next step easily.

It’s almost like I’m not ending up in a decent GT position.

Hmmm I think maybe try to think of it more like youre hopping up into the top string and then the yoyo goes around vs a roll. When you hop up and into that top string, that should adjust the proportions and prevent the string from carrying around like that automatically. Also try to not bring nth quite so close to th as you go up and over and that should also help the proportions stay more comfortable. Also a mini tip is that you can use th thumb to pull the string back and that should help add space so the undercut element right after is more manageable. Hopefully these ideas help but please let us know if it is still giving you trouble and maybe someone else has some ideas or I can try to brainstorm more. Good luck and have fun yo!

Thanks for the reply.

Gave these 10 mins, but still no success.

Will come back again later today and have another try.

Try to summon the man himself @ChrysaeThrows

I’ve been summoned! @MEJBelloz looks like you’re landing too far from your nth, also, is the string old? It doesn’t seem to slide properly.. can you shoot a POV by any chance? I’ll try to re learn the trick (3 years have passed), and come back to you

Unfortunately I can’t POV easily, no.

Nope, brand new yoyo with a brand new string.

I’ve tested this trick on a few different throws, same issue each time.

I have to seriously readjust to get sufficient distance on the string from the yoyo, so I can roll it over without it pulling the mount too.

I’ve tried landing very close to my NTH, but without hitting my hand each time, not sure what else I can do.

Appreciate the help in advance though (long time subscriber).

Mmmh, I’ve recreated the condition you’re facing and when I roll the yoyo, the mount just adjusts itself to let me intercept it with the thumb.. are you pinching the string somewhere with your th?

Can I check, are you landing in a similar position to me at the start point?

Trying to work out if the issue is me getting into the starting position, or the roll over part itself (e.g. accidentally pinching, as you suggest).

Gave it another go for 45 mins, same issue sadly.

I’ve tried hoping it up as well, and the mount still goes with it.

The two strings attached to your th should slide upwards to create the space for your thumb but this is not happening, instead theres some slackiness/slopiness when the yoyo rolls, like if the string was blocked somewhere. Try bringing your nth closer to your th during the roll, this should give the string some more freedom to move

Thanks - I’ll have another grind today. See how I get on.

Ugh. Sadly same issue.

If I readjust the string lengths whilst in the mount, I’m fine, but I’m not landing in a position where I can do it straight away.

Are you ever going to return to making tech / flow tutorials? Big fan of yours and would love to see more tricks from you
