help on hidemasa hook???

i cant get it at all but somehow i can manage to get ninja vanish, anyone have any tips to help me out

I generally do a nice swooping motion with my TH and kind of keep it a bit toward my wrist/forearm of my NTH (so the rest of the string stays out of the way of the yoyo when it hooks. I bet you if you got some cloud string or some nylon, you could get that hook down much quicker

i use normal kitty, so is that bad? lol

No, though string makes a difference, you should be fine with whatever you use. It will just take a bit more practice.

I’m doing an experiment right now. I bought several different types of strings and I’m seeing which ones hold string tension the longest and which ones can throw slacks the easiest. I didn’t know about cloud string when I made my purchase.

So far, it looks like YoYoStringLab strings, either the Ammo or the Venom, are the best ones (for me). I also tried standard Kitty String, Kitty 1.5, Twisted Stringz - Type C, and a friend gave me a Kevlar string.

For me, I’m liking the standard Ammo string for slacks a bit better than the Venom. But that may be a reflection of my new to intermediate skill level. If I was a better yoyoer I may notice more of a difference. But the Kitty strings certainly didn’t seem to hold their string tension very well at all. In fact, that’s what led me to want to try other strings.

I hope that helps.

This was my problem, but I have a solution!

With Brent stole, you allow the slack to move behind the horizontal string and around the yoyo.

Instead, intercept this slack BEFORE it wraps around the back string with your index finger, the same index finger that is holding the back strong. Let this loop fall into the gap of the yoyo, and you should have a hook.

In Brent stole, the motion with your nth is practically nonexistent; but in hook you need to intercept the piece of slack bodies it reaches the back string and let it fall over into the gap of the yoyo.

Hope this helps!

Step 1. Practice pushing your NTH index into both strings.Have the slack hook around.

Step 2. Coordinate when the yoyo will be in ang of the “slack” and land it in the back.
