Help me piece this scam together…

Haha I mean probably, but I’m just saying why sites tend to have blanket bans on any form of doxxing.

if they didn’t send the yoyo, then all I pay for was their personal information!

To the OP. Always check the YYE profile information. @ubniversal joined the same month (July 2024) that they “referred” you. Most likely the same shmuck.

You will learn with time who you can use f&f with. Otherwise just pay for g&s and sleep easy.

Sorry this happened to you. Be keen on the red flags from here out. You can always request a rep check if the user doesn’t already have a feedback thread.

What is F&F? What is G&S?

On Paypal, there are two methods of sending payment: (1) Friends and Family (F&F), which doesn’t charge the user a fee or report the transaction for tax purposes BUT offers no purchase protection or recourse through Paypal if things go south. (2) Goods and Services (G&S), which does charge the user a fee and reports the transaction for tax purposes, but DOES offer the user purchase protection and recourse if the transaction doesn’t go right. It has always been highly recommended that when using the YYE BST that people use G&S so that they have a means to get their money back if the person on the other side of the transaction doesn’t deliver. F&F should ONLY be used in the case of sending money to a friend you’ve done deals with SEVERAL times successfully, or someone you know IRL. Otherwise, it’s pretty easy to get burned. Unfortunately newcomers or people who don’t research basic BST best practices before buying can get easily burned.

F&F the Buyer pays the fees no purchase protection, G&S the Seller pays fees and purchase protection is provided. Using PayPal in not free it is a service. Some sellers on the BST will add fees if you decide to use G&S to cover their fees.

Adding to whatever has been said, when I was more active in BST and dealt with newer users I would encourage them to use G&S because I know there is this weird mental thing that makes some people feel like asking to use it is the same thing as saying they don’t trust someone.

That way they didn’t have to be nervous about asking me.

Agreed. When I was newer to the BST, I always appreciated a buyer telling me to using it without having to ask.

I will say, it would be a lot nicer if PayPal would make it easy to calculate the fees for the buyer instead of having to use a third party calculator

Also would like to add, searching for {username} feedback is really helpful to determine if using F&F is a good idea or not. It’s not fool proof, but it should give you some indicator.

In the same vein, it would be pretty dope if regular sellers had a link to their feedback in their profile (but I would still encourage you to search the whole site if you feel something is off)

This is why I was using f&f, I was afraid to come off like I was “insulting” the seller and didn’t trust them. Well, turns out….
