Oh wow!!!
You won Luna’s throw!!
It’s an awesome yoyo!
Wasn’t a good fit for me to be frank but I could still tell that the yoyo was an amazing one

I don’t know anything about titanium or anodizing…

Can titanium yo-yos be anodized green? If so…would the green be really pale, or could it be a deep dark shade of green?

The Fianchetto came in Green.

I haven’t watched the whole thing yet, but so far it’s a pretty cool video! I work with a lot of Phillipinos, and now I am wondering if I should share my secret hobby with them, lol.

So ive had a bunch of random yoyo thoughts lately. One being that my honeymoon period with Markmont strings is over, and im still as impressed with them as when I first got them. Im not sure if I want to use any other strings anymore. Soft strings? Pfft, it’s all about the grainy ones where you can feel and grip them. I like how gritty most of the Markmont formulas are, and the slack is always where I need it. Perfection.

My other thoughts are about specific yoyos, in which ive bought a bunch in the past few months. One of my favorites lately has been the budget Skyline that got re-released after the Ti-888 came out. I love the small size, and I equally love the hubstacks. I also have the Ti-888, and while I love it, the Skyline is definitely what is advertised: an upgraded 888. The wider catch zone makes it more forgiving when using the hubstacks for faux finger-spins, and is easier to nail tricks while still having a “fun” feel. This is the bargain yoyo of the year imo.

Also, the General Yo 5 Star (I got a BA Santa) is a fantastic small sized throwback organic. It immediately skyrocketed to being one of my funnest yoyos to play with. It just feels like the perfect small organic.

The Batsquatch. Just recently got one, and wow, the hype is real. It seems to be one of those yoyos where the design just nails everything they had in mind. It is the best organic full-size bi-metal ive ever thrown. Perfect weight, the thing is just flawless for what it is. It doesnt hurt that the midnight blue colorway is absolutely gorgeous, and paired with the Markmont Night Moves orange string looks stellar.

Lastly (for now), I got a Butter. Holy hell is this a good yoyo! Best performer in my collection by a margin, and is also fun to throw. It’s slightly narrower catch zone than the WA makes it perfect imo. But it also retains the Shutter feel ive slowly grown to love in the WA, while being better in every way. This yoyo is something special, as I usually don’t find “competition” throws to feel quite so playful and smooth on the catch, and the typical bi-metal stiffness that I dislike a lot of bi-metals for is also completely absent. @Durfee is right to hype this one.

Right there with you on this. Can’t stand overly soft strings. I’m using some Cumulus right now and my only real complaint is it could definitely handle tension better. It’s better after being broken in, but I’d say it’s more on par with generic poly than better in this regard. Definitely lasts a lot longer and feels better though. About to throw one on my TiWA that came with knot bad.

I like the knot bad probably a little bit better than the yellow kitty fat but it’s very close.

I’ve basically just finished my 100 pack of kitty fat and have mixed thoughts. Pink is the best up until it’s completely worn and then it feels gross. Blue is awful, way too soft feeling and less springy than the others. Green is mediocre, not quite as springy as the others but not soft like blue. Orange is alright. Yellow isn’t quite as good as pink fresh but feels better when worn.

Glad you like the 5 star. Such a great throw.

It’s really hard to tell, but reading between the lines I’d say you’re kinda, maybe, sorta a fan of organics? Just a wild guess…

I’m on my way to up-state WA to spend Christmas with family, and I brought two yoyos with me that I intend to leave behind so they’re here whenever I visit: an aqua Dominator and a (dark) blue VTWO.

H’s and V’s represent! :metal:

I must admit, I have rather taken on a love for H and V’s as well.
Maybe my preferences will change over time as it has seemed to have done for a lot of other people.
But right now I am firmly in the H and V camp.

There sure is a high turn over rate in this community. People, actual yoyos, content projects, you name it. Things change so fast.

How long have you been into this hobby :)pants? Including any breaks you’ve had.
Is it hard to see people come and go for you?

I started… oh wow, three years ago. Impulsively bought a butterfly while Christmas shopping for my oldest kiddo three years ago.

And yeah, I see a lot of familiar handles, but there has been a lot of turn over. Yoyos too, the companies that come and go, the yoyos that come and go [and go and go and go on the bst].

Holy smokes, this is exactly how I started, but 5 years ago. My son (middle kid) was heavy into yoyos for a few years. He still plays every now and then, still figures out tricks better than I can. I’m still in it.

Definitely, lol. I know that you view them as a modern day crutch, and while I can see that to a certain point, the performance tradeoff really isnt as bad as you make it out to be. There isnt a single trick I know that I can’t hit on all of my yoyos, performance driven or not. Where I think organics exceed is in their feel and on the catch. Nothing beats doing a combo and catching a nice rounded off organic throw.

I love it, but I regret that I missed the Hatrick on the re-release. How would you compare it to the 5 Star?

As for my origin story, I rediscovered yoyo ~1.5 (not quite) years ago when I came across an unresponsive yoyo video online featuring Gentry Stein, and it blew me away. I had no concept of unresponsive yoyoing, growing up with Butterflys and Fireballs. The idea of a metal yoyo with a ball bearing in it just blew my mind, and I just had to get one and learn a few tricks. The versatility of an unresponsive yoyo had piqued my interest even more than when I first picked up a yoyo in middle school, and im still as obsessed as the day I got my first metal. Ive also rediscovered responsive play and the wonders of a quality wood yoyo. I don’t think there has ever been a better time to get into yoyo.

Do you remember which of Gentry’s videos that was?

The one that he won nationals with using the Replay Pro. My response was like "you can do THAT with a yoyo??? :exploding_head: "
