General Yoyo Thoughts

Just get an Oversized Tea Box, unless you just need them to be on the move

@Exmime where did you find this box it looks really nice?

Just Googled ā€œoversized wooden tea boxā€

Lot of storage options and can sometimes be found at Thrift Stores.

One of my YoYo storage boxes are these JOIE plastic ones I received as a gift for that purpose. These fit One Drops with their boxes perfectly.

What if there were a yo-yo where if you broke through the ano from a drop or whatever, it was another color underneath? Or colors, almost like a jawbreaker, idk if thatā€™s a good example or not lol. So instead of being like dang thereā€™s a mark in my yoyo now, now itā€™s the start of something unique and a little artistic. Lotta obvious problems and reasons this probably couldnā€™t happen, but Iā€™m just bored at work thinking about things other than work lol

I picture a solid 3a pair slowly becoming a neat speckled yoyo

Exactly! Maybe the yoyo starts out black/white/silver and from there the colors underneath vary. But how do you do that without making the yoyo a rock on a string because it has layers on layers of paint, and without necessarily promoting intentional damage to the yoyo? I mean I guess walking the dog on concrete is one thing but ya never know how people would be :joy:

Anodizing would not workā€¦ But Ceracote would.

So I have this problem where I canā€™t just buy string. I have to buy something else or the cart doesnā€™t feel complete lol. Anyone else like this? Doesnā€™t necessarily have to be a yo-yo every time, but Iā€™ll like look at CWs and bearings etc to add on to the order :joy:

Today I realized Soraā€™s the first person to podium at 3a Worlds outside of Hajime, Alex, Minato, Tomoya, and Hank in a decade. And only those first 4 have podiumā€™d since 2015. Also Alex missed finals for the first time in over a decade, despite placing 2nd at the last worlds. :eyes:

An odd abundance of Markmont Classics up for sale as of late

yeah, i donā€™t know what those yo-yos are but iā€™ve been seeing that name pop up a lot lately

I love my Markmont Classic.
Highly recommend the model.
Never seen so many for sale. It feels like Iā€™m missing something.

As an owner of 6 Markmonts, it is way too easy to collect these beauties, one of my fav models as well.

It is shocking how unique it plays.
If I had to specify a single yoyo that has the most unique play ā€œsignatureā€, I would choose the Markmont Classic.
OD and Markmont hit it out of the park.

Is there a big difference between the grasshopper and the haymaker x?

Iā€™ve got a grasshopper but Iā€™m interested in the haymaker x

The biggest difference, to me anyway, is the width. The Haymaker X is very noticeably narrower. But it is still extremely playable.

Every time this thread gets bumped I think I am going to read something about General-Yo.
