Fixed Axle February-Week 4

Both I suppose, I just find I’m missing the string more often than not

Work on the Breakaway. As you are study your throw and observe how straight the yoyo is. Adjust your throws until you get consistently straight sleepers that stay straight throughout the Breakaway to hand. The largest hurdle for trapeze is inconsistent throws.

Thank you!

best i can offer is think of the yoyo moving in the same plane flat in front of you like there is a mime stuck behind the invisible wall in front of you and keep your strings in line on the same plane. throw the breakaway as in line with that plane as you can and try to keep your off hand in line so the string wraps in the same plane… its more a way to visualize it so you can practice keeping the trick aligned the entire time. and then practice alot…

Another tip: try to land the string with the yoyo close to your non-throwhand. The closer it is the less room for error there is.

This is kinda going against the thread but if you have a bearing responsive yoyo, practice trapeze on that. It will be a smoother experience, use what tools we have available today. Once you get super comfortable with trapeze or other basic tricks, translating it to fixed axle will bring more understanding I’d find. There could also be a benefit to just sticking with fixed. It’s up to you.
