very complicated name for such an elementary trick
I would call it foundational but maybe not elementary. It’s kinda like Boingy or Seasick in that while PLENTY of people can execute it, it’s hard to make it look good, casual, and fully integrated into the flow of an 0a combo.
Hello everyone. I have a question about @edhaponik 3D Stop N Pop. In Ed’s video, the yoyo flips 90 degrees (in the end of the pop) and returns to the Brother like a normal Stop N Pop. My yoyo does not flip. I have already made 100,000+ attempts. How do I do this flip? Or does it depend on the yoyo? Or does this flip not matter? I am posting my video below, I used BC Apollo.
I think Ed explained it quite well here. For me the visual difference is that in Makin Da Zines the yoyo is sort of thrown up between the hands rather than being unwound outside the NTH.
It’s really all about how you launch it and yeah it does depend on the yoyo and gap to some extent. But it can def happen w more “perpendicularity”. Imo what you’ve got there is in the spirit of the trick and just fine.
If you were talking about the Dazzling Dave trick, the Regen Trapeze doesn’t actually have any stalls on it at all. You’re simply throwing it into a regular trapeze, with the yo-yo still spinning, then tossing it up and letting it regen into basically an outside loop back into another trapeze (again, not stalled), then repeating.
It took me a while to get it BECAUSE I mentally wanted to keep stalling it, like Makin Da Zines, ha ha.
Thanks for the answer! Then I’ll leave this version as accepted here, and when I have time I’ll try to do it with different yoyos, etc. I like the trick anyway, so thanks for the tutorial.
Adding to my trick list:
3D Stop N Pop
and Early Grab Pressure Flip
Alright @HappyYoyoer the pick is yours. Sorry for the delay. This last week had challenges.
For all others who have won, your prize is in the mail, and there are still plenty up for grabs if you haven’t taken the Imperial Challenge.
So take your pick Bax.
I don’t see the yoyo flip in Ed’s video, but… you just made me notice that the landing is into brother stall so I didn’t do it right. I’ll see if I can get that landing. Seems hard.
If you do it exactly like Ed, the trick is very difficult. Ed launches the yoyo almost completely horizontally, parallel to the floor, at the end point (when the string is completely unwound) the yoyo turns 90 degrees and returns back perpendicular to the floor. So it’s like both 3D Eli Hops and a horizontal Stop N Pop (as was said in the tutorial). It looks like magic to me and, at the same time, probably breaks some physical law
We will do a proper post update a bit later. This weekend has been a busy one for all of us and time is limited so bare with us but things will get posted proper this weekend. Feel free to knock out stuff from week 3 in the mean time

I don’t know, Rob… say what you will about the DNA, but it got just about everybody at my Summer Camp interested in yo-yos for at least a little while.
I’m still working on my week 1 tricks but I’m finally getting them down! I’m executing makin da zines on repeat approx 75% of the time now!
I can’t recall how the prizes work for posting a week “late” but this is for pride more than anything anyway!
FAF Week 3: The Fixie Strikes Back!
We’re deep into Fixed Axle February, proudly hosted by the YoYo Boomer Club, and things are getting serious. This is where the montages kick in, the synths start blasting, and somewhere, someone is dramatically staring off into the distance, contemplating their next stall trick. You didn’t come this far just to tap out now, we believe in you!
There’s still plenty of time to wax-on, wax-off, hone your chops, hit those trick ladders, and claim some epic prizes from our amazing sponsors. Just remember, the key to those tricky stalls is to throw softly and Hold On Loosely (but don’t let it go).
So please check out the updated tricks below, feel free to drop in, post your progress, and let’s make this third act legendary!
