Is this my first ever yoyo video? Yes
Is that a Jazz Kasm? Also yes.
I got yoyo for xmas and it’s set me down a whole new rabbit hole of skill toys and niche interests!

Yo here is this trick for @Nic_from_Adelaide
I’m not sure if it’s Venn diagram or staccato loops like the link says staccato loops but the yt title says Venn diagram. This was more fun than i was expecting and I spent a ton of time just goofing around so yah let’s gooooo! I’m in lol
For the bean counters—I have now completed
—1x CowClops hydrOa trick
—All 5 Jerrod master class tricks
—2x trick list tricks
—1x beginner series
I’m not organized enough to wait until I finish them all and post them in one group, but I will keep a running tally of what I have done and hope that makes it easier for y’all at the end.
the two dazzling dave tricks i missed.
so two entrys for the trick ladder, two for the begginer series, two for the dazzling dave tricks, and one for the couple jerrod tricks i did? is that right??
OK, idea for fellow beginners from a total 0a noobie. (I only recently managed to do trapeze stalls, and only last week did my first trapeze stall → brother stall.)
I’m pretty far from Makin Da Zines - I barely know how to do regens. But, in breaks from today’s work of grading papers, I made up for myself a simplified beginner variant: trapeze stall, regen and drop it into a sleeper, tug into a regen straight back into trapeze stall.
I love doing it, and it’s really helping me learn to do regens. And the few times I can land the regen back into trapeze stall is super satisfying. But yeah - the moment of breathing space I get from dropping it into a sleeper halfway through the trick is what makes this noob able to do the next bit.
But it’s definitely not Makin Da Zines, but some training wheels variant. Maybe Makin Da Memes?
You can claim another, I’ve got a full set of yours!
You can even make it into a keyring or zipper pull if you don’t need more weights
This is exactly what I’m working on right now. The fluidity is lost after the first regen over the top after the stall…I get to sleeper and hope there’s enough spin left to allow me to tug up and do the I think it’s called the side style planet hop regen back to trapeze stall.
Good to see another n00b around here!
That’s a super common thing people do starting out, myself included.
3 tips I always tell any unresponsive player (or any player really) getting started in fixie:
Can you make a vid? This sounds exactly like Makin’ Da Zines…
lol Makin da Memes is too funny.
I used to love that “pre-Zines” version. Def one of the first “0a” ideas I messed with years ago (like 30s into this relic of a video). Still so chill and therapeutic.
Imperial just arrived… it feels like I’m starting 0A all over again, lol!
(I can’t hit anything!!)
My throw told me it likes cupcake batter flavored chapstick. I don’t even understand why that is a flavor lol. I just grabbed one at random.
Love this! Thank you for sharing, Ed. It’s cool to see earlier days of your 0a journey.
IMPERIAL YOYO TRIK
the gap helped a little but definitely imperial. I tried some of them harder tricks to compensate.
here is a mildly out of frame dolphin flip that took way too long and the banana slide
Gotta love yo-yo videos that are so old even the aspect ratio seems antiquated lol
Ya know a vid is old when its on vimeo hah!
The SPF is what really kicks the response up a notch.
I’ll see if I can get over anti-self-filming.
But I’m pretty sure it’s not Makin Da Zines. MDZ involves a fluid, quick movement, snapping between coming out of trapeze stall and the flip regen. That move where you pop the yoyo fast between your hands after the stall and snap into the regen. My training wheels version is dropping out of the stall into a sleeper, taking a moment to get steady, and then tugging up and doing a regen. A big pause in the middle instead of the fluid moving snap.
It does sound pretty close. We can help ya if you post a video. It coukd just be getting a little smoother through your steps.
When I started filming myself I did shoulders down to help deal with the not wanting to film myself bit. It might be helpful depending on what the root cause of the not wanting to film yourself is.
