Fixed Axle February 2025 is Here! WEEK 1

I’m new to it as well. Getting stall down is so satisfying, a gateway to everything.

I made the mistake of trying to learn kick flips after that. Nightmare lol. I skipped forward and started the trapeze brother stall, doing that back and forth, don’t know if that is the right name, and Regen out of the stall. Highly recommend that

I’ve been trying to tell ya!!! :joy:

No one believes me, but butterfly is ACTUALLY one of the best fixies, if not the best, once you account for price and availability.

Man, you weren’t lying. I guess part of it was because I hadn’t tried the new mold, I was going off memory of my old one and was thinking “these dudes are weird, that thing ain’t gonna do these Flippy ma doo dads”

lets be real, it’s one of the best without factoring price. once you factor price, it’s no contest. plus there are lots of different flies to collect for the ones that gotta catch em all

That back and forth from Trapeze to Brother Stalls is a great exercise that’s also fun to repeat.

Yay!! I’ll do some of the tricks on week 2 with it  some of those counterweights look super sick! I got my eye on that pink colored one on the right lol, I’m coming for you!!

Here’s Dazzling Dave’s challenges.

Also knocked out Sidewinder. And yes, those are Imperials (and a Butterfly), but I’ve already got some of @Nic_from_Adelaide’s weights

Lol kickflips are way beyond me. That’s a good idea to go from trapeze stall to brother and back. I struggle to get the yoyo going again after brother stall. This will be good practice.

With the Mothra as well, killer! Those regen-trapeze ones were difficult for me admittedly, mentally I kept wanting to stall them in the beginning, haha.

I’ve been messing with the Duncan satellite for FAF. I need to record something to get it off my brain

I saw an insta of Jon Gates doing trapeze regens once and I had no idea what he was doing and how to do it myself. I’m glad Dave included them here.

Yo how did you set up your imperial? I got the loops done with mine and the trapeze regen trick, but I have been struggling like crazy with the warp drive. I just can’t get the sleep time to do the ATWs well, or the response feels so loose I can’t get the yoyo to loop comfortably. I definitely think it’s the response but this is starting to get annoying lol. I did try it w my hornets and it was easy, so I know it’s a setup thing…maybe…or something idk…any advice you have also about that one would be appreciated

Spitting’ straight facts.

Keep your hands really close together on stalls. It will give more string wraps for easier dismounts.

For looping Imperials I use OTS normal or slim and I double wrap the axle. The throws sleep as long as they are not torqued up.

For Warp Drive I had a ton of trouble too. This is a trick I can do on a Loop 720. I went with a single wrap, but I torqued it up until I had a response I was happy with, and even then the response was just inconsistent enough that I had to film a few before I got three in a row.

Edit: Here are my play tips for Warp Drive. I wound up moving my hand forward a little bit at the end of the ATW to try to encourage more string to be in the gap for regen. I also made sure to use a very solid wrist snap to ensure ATW always looped at the right angle. Being off angle with the starburst response usually meant I wasn’t going to get a response at all. I hit myself a fair amount

That worked! Thank you, such a simple thing, but it’s what I needed. I had my hands wide like I do with unresponsive.
