FIXED AXLE CHALLENGE!!! ROUND 4..... (!)

Really…
(dream crushing defeat)

Unless I’m seeing it wrong?

I know how hard you’ve gone hard this round, but so have a lot of guys. I think almost everyone has had to refilm, a lot of folks multiple times. Either the yo-yo has been fuzzy or out of frame or caught on the wrong finger or something else. And if one guy has to reshoot it to get it just right, then it’s not fair for me to let another through with a comparable issue. I was SUPER lenient in the first 2 rounds, and made it clear that tricks had to be shown correctly and clearly after. I absolutely understand that filming yo-yo can be just as hard as PLAYING yo-yo.

What would you have me do?

I put hours in this with my brother filming, getting frustrated over one trick. I learned it’s not worth it to put yourself through that and drag someone else along. So if I already lost it’s fine Iearned a lesson and a yoyo trick. No hard feelings.

You know I actually filmed my entry many times since there were some cases of the trick just slightly get out of the frame, also if the stall “spins” sideway and the string crossed just a bit or wiggle too much I had to retry, even though I think it probably have been okay. Also if you look at my entry carefully, I’m pointing my finger just to make sure that it’s shown in the video that I used my pointer finger, normally I never do that.
Throw, do the trick, do exactly the same bind, show the yoyo, check if in frame, if it’s good upload, if it’s sketchy refilm, that’s how I did it.
I’m not trying to let anyone down, it was just, when Ed said he has been watching some entries frame by frame, I know that he never intended to shoot anyone down on the video quality. I mean he could’ve just asked for a refilm and it will be easier, but even he tried his best to confirm the entries are at least not questionable.

Hold no grudge against the judge.

Some great stuff posted… Man, keep at it boys & girls.

Sergio, similar thing happened to me. On Instagram Ed wrote “You have it dialed in now though.” This was the first trick I decided to film the practice session just because I wasn’t hitting it. After the defeat of missing it on film I started refilling it and I hit it again on film 3 times within the next hour. So just a bit more work man and you’ve got it. Good luck bro you still have 8 hours or so you can do it.

The great thing about this contest is that people care about it and are working so hard.
The horrible, gut wrenching thing about it is that people care about it and are working so hard.

I have nothing but gratitude for everybody who is doing it and supporting it. You are literally putting fixed axle on your backs and carrying it.

Yeah man! Go after it!

You’ve come so far - and with all that practice you have to be more consistent than you think…

Don’t let yourself down on this one - I know you can push through.

I don’t have much more time before this round is over. I’ve hit it about three times on film, one featuring a triple kickflip instead of a double, but none of the 3 have been fully in frame, not close enough that I’d post. Gonna use the rest of this time to my best ability, but I think real life stuff is going to get in the way of me moving forward, that and my luck with framing. Kudos to everyone that has gotten this one in the bag, it’s a tough one. Couldn’t have been a stall rewind or anything, just my luck. :stuck_out_tongue:

No animosity here, I’m glad to have experienced this, my first yoyo contest ever.

KEEP GOING!!!

I’m out too. Couldn’t hit it in time, but man, I have massive respect for Ed and the rest of you who made it look so easy.

For those who are stopping, could you guys please try filming like, 5-10 minutes more worth of trying? let’s just say for the sake of Ed and YYE for having this awesome contest. Honestly I’ve been kinda down with my life lately, and seeing the entries and all the discussion in this contest actually made my days, it’s almost like having a new family. It’s just sad if you all just go… just a little more effort, don’t worry about hitting it.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll be videoing every second I can today, my consistency isn’t where it was yesterday. Keeping a positive attitude, a throw in my hand and a camera on me.

This one goes out to a few different people. First to my girlfriend, she supports me to the best of her ability in everything I do. Even when I’m an adult who won’t put down his yoyos for hours at a time. To my dog Herbie, who is not only my best friend who’s been my closest companion for the last 9 and a half years, and is fighting a losing battle with cancer. And to Rizki, who pushed me to try this a few more times before I started my real life grown up stuff for today.

Had to pull my 77 Rules For Yoyo Players ProFly by John Higby off the display to channel the magic of Ed Haponik on this one.

Without further adieu, for your consideration:

Let me know what you think.

Ooo I don’t know man… thats a tough call.

Nice job man way to put in the extra effort, it’s up to Ed though on that catch

Yeah, I know the catch isn’t back to hand at first, though I’m not sure, there’ve been a few videos that didn’t respond all the way back and there was a bit more regen involved.

Like I stated before, if I don’t make the next round, I’m still very proud of how far I’ve come in this.

Yeah I’ll need to see the original file (uncropped) to see the catch and to see what the yoyo is doing on that double flip. Can you email it to me?

I sent as much as I could. It wouldn’t let me send the entire 6:25 worth of filming session. Sorry. It should be in your gmail inbox now.
