Showing the axle before or after it’s the same to me.
I just can’t generate enough spin after the trapeze and his brother stall to do a proper fly away dismount. I’ve tried on the yoyo in my avatar, a 2014 EH, a silver bullet I, even a no jive diamond special!
Any tips?
Has to be spinning after the bro stall.
I had the same problem generating dpi for the trapeze, I would recommend catching the brother stall with your hands closer together than your able to rip start the stall to get a good spin. My hands were close about six inches apart. Good luck man.

Here’s my entry. I hope showing the Yoyo is enough. It’s a modified butterfly, with a solid maple axle, made by Paul of Once Upon A Tree.
It is but its kinda hard to tell in the video. Thanks for the heads up, what do you think Ed?
I hope between the link in the quote and this one I have shown and done the trick properly. If not, it has been a fun and slightly aggravating 7 hours of videoing.

I messed up the first try but got it my second try.
Wish it was a little cleaner on the flyaway dismount, but I’ll take what I can get when short person’s sleeping.
After burning through a half dozen strings and a couple hours, I’d like an official “Fly Away Dismount” tutorial ;D
Here is mine: https://youtu.be/oAKA4rp8aTQ
Thanks to Ed and Andre for the contest - it is such a great idea!
Good luck to all the other contestants
I hear ya Aaron. I’m personally in for 5 strings and hours that add higher than that. My shoulder is not looking forward to the rest of the week.
I used 5 strings over 12 hrs getting the trick down yesterday. Nailed it my first time recording it. Forgot to show the yoyo… A few more tries and I got it on video.
Next week is going to be tough! http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/26/be2fbd955a61855cdeba33201da34135.jpg
Do fixies really burn strings that fast
Yup.
After hours of practice this contest has taught me that I never want to throw a fixed axle yoyo ever again. I would rather crush my Duncan Butterfly with a sledgehammer than throw it again.
C’mon guys, this one has been challenging and fun! Keep lose, no pressure, relax, and keep trying. Practice, muscle memory and confidence is all this takes.
Some great entries. Excited about round 2.
It’s frustrating but I think you should give it another chance. If the stalls are giving you trouble remember that it’s a bit easier if you don’t throw hard before the stall. A softer toss makes it easier to catch the yoyo in a stalled fashion.
