First Titanium Yoyo Recommendation

Hello!

I’m in the market (UK based ideally, but will order further afield) for my first Titanium yoyo… however, I have limited to no experience of the Titanium market.

I don’t plan to spark with it, and also plan to be using it regularly at home, so don’t want something which is designed to be an expensive collectable.

Any recommendations?

Bonus points if any other Raw yoyo recommendations which aren’t Titanium, as I love the look of Raw yoyos.

I’ve got a beautiful CLYW x Luftverk Alpine for sale if you wanted to go that direction. Fantastic yo-yo.

Also, raw yo-yos that aren’t ti: check out Sputnik Mount from the forums own @Burchard

DM me a price just so I have it in my consideration :slightly_smiling_face:

Looks like a good throw at a reasonable price, the profile looks very Mustang inspired which is harder to get and almost twice as much…

Mowl is dropping the Ti infiltrate soon and that’s easily the best performing Ti yoyo I ever tried

Crosscut and Polaris will probably the two affordable + perform well in case you only look for one to throw casually.

Otherwise, many rare deal at below retail can be found in this forum.

You can search just for Ti and price

If you are just wanting something chill Ti Koi is really good

I would say to look for a ti yo-yo that meets your general yo-yo design preferences (i.e. what spec range do you like, what shapes, etc). That should help you find some options that are more likely to fit you.

Also keep in mind that ti won’t radically change how the yo-yo feels compared to an Al mono. Imo there can be a bit of a performance bump going from mono Al to mono ti but it’s less than for a bimetal.

If you’re looking for a design that makes great use of the material compared to an Al mono then also maybe focus on ones with minimal centre and mid weight. They can still be great yoyos but they may not make the best use of ti to create a unique feel.

Now, couple general design recs:

  • Polaris is a great casual throw with medium pacing and it plays with a bit of weight but isn’t heavy. It’s also at a pretty decent price for ti and I think still in stock.
  • The Tilderness is a bit more expensive but is an amazing performer that really makes good use of the material imo. Comes with the caveat that the shape is very drastic so only buy if you know you like big, wide, angular yo-yos.

You’re in Europe I would say Luftverk is probably your best bet for an awesome ti YoYo.

Another vote for Ti Vayder (mine is the DRunner version but they’re basically identical). Probably the yoyo I’ve played the most over the years and I’ve owned quite a few, including several other titanium and SS throws. Really fun yoyo with plenty of performance, at least for me. It’s a legendary design for a reason. I’m sure you can’t go wrong with Luftverk either. Only Luftverk ti I’ve played is the Tundra, but it’s a favorite right up there with the DRunner. All the other Luftverk designs I’ve played are fantastic, so I’d bet the rest of the ti models are too.

How about this hot take…. I didn’t really get along with 2020 Evora and 000. Sold them both. 000 was really nice but once that break edge on the rim was damaged, that’s all I felt on the catch. Maybe I’ll get a clean one at some point.

Well, if you ever get another Ti 000, just send it to me and I will machine that sharp outer edge to a more ergonomic shape and feel, no doubt…

No charge…… and I pay return shipping…. As usual.

PS…. That ‘EDGE’ on the 000 was not an accident. It was specifically the direct result of Jeffrey Pang having a vision of an Organic shape in Ti, with a no frills vibe. Sort of a down and dirty, nothing extra fancy… just a very basic, straight from the Barn, yo-yo, lol.

Jeffrey is a Master of yo-yo design shapes and functionality.

So, while a person here or there/now and then, might ask, ‘How did a guy come up with such a great playing yo-yo and ‘forgot’ to round out that rim a bit’?

Jeffrey didn’t forget anything. The shape was dictated by the concept.

By the way Yoyofriends did a mystery Ti yoyo for black Friday last year. I got a Crosscut and a B grade Vulture (which is dead smooth and flawless visually) for $200. Might be worth waiting for that, assuming they do it again.
