I was able to clean up the grip a LOT with a file. Thanks for the suggestion!
Oh yeah, I use the dollar tree nail files. They work really well. Or 400 sandpaper.
Yo me and my friend are thinking about getting into this, but we didn’t know if tech deck would be similar to magic yoyo and wanted something nice and good for beginners that we could get for a good price.
We were looking at tech deck packs but didn’t know if there was anything a lil nicer without costing a ton of money
Thanks to anyone who helps
(Btw we have like no knowledge or experience with this lol)
How much is your budget?
I’d suggest a Slush Cult grom complete or a DK complete. Much much better than a tech deck.
Posting to remind me to show my board when get home. The real fingerboards are SO good compared to teckdeck, mine cost the same as my real skateboard lol but it’s worth it.
Not much
Yo, i got a spare 32mm deck you can have. I think it’s a… my memory on FB brands is bad. Something to do with a cat i think? It’s a sick deck with really snappy pop.
I cannot ollie for the life of me. Any tips?
Oh
I wanna say yes but I just ordered one!
Thanks for the offer though that’s very kind
It’s a 20$ soldier bar, are those any good??
@GnarlyCharlie Saw this and thought you might appreciate. Particularly the impromptu whittling part.

Haha I’ve seen things similar to that before. There used to be a kid that would fully make a proper surfboard from scratch (shape foam, s-cloth, resin), it was crazy. You had to special order them from him and he’d make them one at a time.
Here some tips, hope it helps:
-
Remember to always have a good or conformable position; the standard is your middle finger on the center of the tail and your pointer finger just behind the front bolts.
-
When you pop the board, try not to lift your pointer finger too high from the board.
-
You can help yourself get height by flicking your wrists a bit while doing the popping motion.
-
After popping the deck, remember to move your hand forwards, parallel to the deck.
-
You can try to do the ollie going backwards at first; it might be easier and may help you understand the trick’s motion.
-
Try to do the trick while jumping over something; it can be a pencil, a small book, or even a drawn line. It will subconsciously make you try do the trick better because you have a physical obstacle to overcome.
Well…I can jump a pencil 3 times outta 10 now!
Love that setup.
OK, so I can Ollie now. I’m getting better at height, just need to work on distance and consistency.
What’s a good trick to learn next?
Kickflip is probably the best trick to learn after ollie
Pop shuv’s are quite manageable too!
