Favourite new yoyo development

What is your favourite new yo-yo development in the last five years? Mine is Freshly Dirty’s use of DMLS 3D printing for their Dahlia.

I’m enjoying the oversized yoyos that have been coming out like the 2022 Sasquatch, UpDn Orange, RCS Seti, and all the rereleases from OD like the Kraken and Wizard. Big yoyos=big fun.

I evtried some of the protos of these at club with larger holes and they are wild and also scary. Like finger choppy lol.

It’s a fun design I love it and am so happy he released them.

I’ve really been impressed by the capsule it’s such a unique and fun thing @daletubat created. Dome caps on a yoyo obviously aren’t new but I don’t recall a yoyo that could play on the floor like the capsule can.

I second the big yo-yos, last year I was super into minis! Built a whole collection of just minis, got their own designated case n everything. Most I thought would stay forever. But one thing I’ve learned is yo-yos come n go, and if you let a throw go that u really love, another will find its way back into the collection.

This year I basically sold half or more than half of my mini collection in favor of bigger yo-yos. Not consciously I just realized it like last week that for every small yoyo that’s gone a huge one has taken its place. Not just big diameter but I’m enjoying the wide yo-yos as well. Some of my favorites so far have been wizard obviously, wilderness, shutjun, neo master galaxy, had galaxy diver but sold it n got the mono version instead, good decision, for all the crap yyf takes, I’ve really been enjoying the mega monster as I think a lot of others have as well, that thing is nice, so much fun, also got a Duncan drifter xl, had a art 4hunna for a second, and so many others. Oh and can’t forget the ultra cut! That thing is so dang nice! Yoyofriends really do a good job of evolving their yo-yos within certain lines. Like the shortcut, paper cut, crosscut and now the ultra cut and each one has been a welcome upgrade, and they all retain the soul of the original. They do this with most others I’ve tried as well.

I think with the shortcut it’s been a staple when ever someone asks for budget recommendations. And it’s debatabley been one of the best in that category. But with the ultra cut I think the debate is over. In my eyes at least, the ultracut is the definitive best budget monometal $34 can buy. Objectively. That things hits so far above its price range it’s almost criminal to sell it so cheap. But I’m sure glad they do. Kudos to Yoyofriends!

The pattern looks nice. But the texture looks like the 3D version of a cheap inkjet printer. They could a least clean up the surfaces. That thing looks like a cheap, plastic toy from the 1970’.

I didn’t remember this design and when I checked it out on their website I really liked it! Is it made of stainless steel? (!) How does it play in general?

I remember when we had 4 gloves on trying to do the dna on it

Not really a new development bc they’re a throwback to the old vipers by Henry’s, but i love the Newts by rewind and Sus yoyo mechanics bc they’re great for 3a inside and not being loud. Imma still call them new bc it’s a 1a/3a/5a yoyo vs a 4a yoyo like the viper.

Can second that. Viper Remix is a great 4A/9A throw. Great job rewind!

I love wide yo-yos like the mega monster, not crazy recent but yo-yos just keep slowly getting wider
