@Upmanyu i do believe this is happening, especially in the general market where a lot of stuff is moving. this is when it’s good to have a well rounded group of friends that you trust, knowing the provenance (og owner, etc), that way you’re safer dealing…. i can’t say i’d buy a raw canvas on the market right now, or a draupnir or a-rt, but i know some people i would buy from
You ever get to try the Fakenir?
Depending on the company making the fakes, they can range from absolutely god awful, to almost impossible to tell a difference.
Case in point, I tried a knock off Draupnir that was so accurate to the original, it was the exact same weight, no differences in engraving, and to confirm, we took apart and put half with a real draupnir, and there was no telling any difference. I also have used a sOMEThING Anglam that similarly was impossible to tell the difference.
I dont have any evidence that this happens in yoyo manufacturing, but I have heard stories of products making it out of the back door and then being sold through less than official channels.
@JeiCheetah brings up a good point that you might not be able to tell the difference. As I assume some of these may be inside jobs and late night machine runs on the same machines that were producing the originals. To my understanding it is not all about the CAD, these CNC machines run on their own programmed language. If some one had access to files and there is a similar unit down the street, that might be where some of these subtle QC differences come in to play. YoYo is a small niche community and so are the facilities that can produce them

TP Mustang V3: Different seller, Maverick black and turquoise from a couple of years ago.
TP Palpitation: Orange and purple, could only find these two, but there were more colours dropped.

Tbh images can only provide some assurance when it comes to identifying fakes, surface finish is one, but some differences are literally in millimetres and can only be identified if you put it next to a real one IRL. And when u do manage to identify the differences after u recieve the throw from BST, return and refund can be an awkward process.
Some popular clothing, makeup brands and even sports brands like yonex have posts on their websites showing consumers how to identify fakes. Might be a stretch, but feel like it wouldn’t hurt if yoyo companies do the same.

Emmm Imgur is used to organise the photos… none of the throws are for sell… this post was created to prevent buying fake throws, but I guess it serves the opposite purpose now XD

that’s what I thought too but this guy who has multiples of the same colors can’t be up to any good with that many fake throws.
I’ll never buy a 420 on bst again, but that may have been his goal.
