deadliest thing in Australia?
Hard to say. The Sydney funnel web spider, the inland taipan and the box jellyfish will all kill you dead pretty fast.
Not-so-fun fact: the Sydney funnel web spider will stand on its hind legs and charge at you when it senses you as a threat. Itās fangs are tough enough to bite victims through their toenails.
I really dislike snakes of all kinds. A friend has a place in Arizona. They have 3-4 rattle snakes a week in the garage and come across them regularly on the golf course. I donāt go there. When I was in the army I was stationed at an amphib training base on the edge of the dismal swamp. Part of the training route was through the swamp. They had a regular snake patrol that cleared the water moccasins off the trail a couple of times a day.
The most Deadly thing in Australia is not even a thing. It is a person.
Straight outta Aussie Folklore.
His Name is Dr. Franken-Glen.
When the night is dark and the moon is full. He lurks around the fringe of the brush on the edge of town by the little gray barn at the foot of the trail by the babbling brook on the north side of the south bend.
He leaps out of the dark When a totally unsuspecting person walks by.
He swoops down and puts a large sack over their head.
And smothers them with Wood Shavings.
Itās very dramatic.
Veryā¦
You had me at poisonous.
Yes Doc. Iāve called the nurse. She will be here soon to escort you back to your room.
I have a few āhotā arachnids in my collection that have no issue trying to take you on if you are looking for a fight. So canāt say the spiders would be the concern. As for the snakes, guess I wouldnāt be doing much herping if I visited. Biggest thing Iāve seen and heard from people is that the flies in the outback are enough to drive one mad!
I just hate to even hear of any spider being killed!
If I came to Australia, Iād be hunting for spiders (to observe), rather than trying to avoid them.
Probably a SpinWorthy burlap sack.
Oh -good news! Iām going back to the burlap sacks.
Australia has some of the most poisonous spiders and snakes in the world. You do not want to be stuck in the wilderness in the dark in Australia.
Donāt you have animals like bears and wolves out in the wild? To me that sounds far more dangerous than a few spiders and snakes.
I would rather have a close encounter with a bobcat and a coyote than a wolf spider and a rattle snake.
No creepy crawlys for me!
I will take my room over your cage, any day.
Bobcats and coyotes are not even that dangerous. They avoid you most of the time. The only animals really dangerous in my area are bears and mountain lions. Mountain lion are no joke, you run a way from one of those, you are dead in a few seconds.
Thatās way worse than Australian animals!
Im just afraid of anything that slithers or craws I guess. I crossed paths with a bobcat once, it didnāt bother me.
Can confirm, Australia is pretty gnarly. Even our birds will try to kill you!
