Even if you could would you come to Australia

Haha. Yeah. I forgot about that.

Wolves pretty much stay away from humans. Brown bears and black bears do as well unless you get between a mother and her cubs. Grizzly bears on the other hand are dangerous. In all my years of wilderness camping I’ve only seen a wolf running across a road as I was driving. The only bears I’ve seen (3) have been in established campgrounds where they have found they can find free food.

The fact that you have dangerous bears like grizzlies tops anything we have here.

Oh man. Nothing stops your heart like realizing you’re completely alone in a remote part of the forest and you suddenly see the back of a bear not far off. I’m not ready for that.

I’ve been stalked by a bobcat. The scary part is that by the time you realize they’re around, they’ve probably been watching you for a lot longer. They’re so quiet.

This conversation makes Wisconsin seem fairly safe. Much like Minnesota, as @jhb8426 mentioned, the colder climate seems better to avoid those things.

I was trying to think where I just recently heard about spiders in the news; then I remembered that’s what some fans want the Cleveland Indians to be renamed, so that’s completely unrelated.

I’ve wanted to visit Australia for awhile now. I have a friend that lives in the Shepparton-Mooroopna area (2 hours north of Melbourne…or so I’m told). While there I’d go to AFL matches, then travel to Sydney for some NRL. Maybe next year…spiders or no spiders.

Well, Aussie animals don’t stalk. Yours are definitely scarier.

I just wanted to make something perfectly clear.

I enjoy jerking Glens’ chain. We have gone back and forth in a few threads over time.

I am a wise guy(no surprise). And Glen is basically from the same village.

My low grade humor is lost on some folks on this forum. And I basically understand this before I post.

…But all joking aside, Glen and I are friends… And if I ever make it down to Australia. Part of planning my trip will be to contact Glen first. So i can meet the Woodchuck in person and we can cut up whatever tree he really doesn’t need in his backyard anymore.

I have followed Glens’ work from the guessing stages to the Finished product stages.

I am certainly no yoyo making Mastermind. But I have been known to cut up a thing or two in the last few decades.

Glen makes good stuff. And my teasing him does not have any negative effect on his Craftsmanship.

I don’t want anybody to think we have some kinda ā€˜beef’.

I’m just mainly upset because Customs won’t let me send Glen a bucket of Termites.

You might be able to hide some under the caps of a Freehand?

Where I am we have Eastern Timber Rattlesnakes & Copperheads. Coyote and Brown Bears. I’ve yet to cross paths with either of those snakes, but we have coyote who live in the woods/swamp that is behind our backyard. It’s OK though, we don’t let our dog out alone. We also have fox and turkey.

What is happening to that lady on the bicycle is basically the rule in Australia, not the exception.

Magpies WILL do this in spring if they see you riding or walking nearby, which is very often.

sadly where i’m at bears and wolves are very uncommon.

My brotherinlaw was bitten by a brown recluse that was hiding in the pantsleg of jeans laying on the floor. It took doctors a month to diagnose the bite while the hole in his leg kept growing larger.

I’ve spent some good time in Aus and NZ. They were happy times and I wasn’t killed by anything. Perhaps that was just luck.

Will let you know if/when we can ever make it over. Alaska is number one on my visit list right now with Australia/New Zealand in second.

Whenever we can do Australia it’ll be a pretty big ā€œonce in a lifetimeā€ thing, probably a month long. Visit Australia and New Zealand at the same time. Will probably be awhile before we do that, want to wait for the kids to get older first. Our daughter is almost 2 1/2, and our son is 11 days old, so it’ll be a bit.
