I just got a brand new dv888 in the mail and i have one problem. When i jerk up on it i can see the string wrapping around it and it shoots back to my hand. Any help?

Yup. The pads and the bearing. Stock YYF pads tend to be pretty beefy, so if you silicone it, that may help a little. Cleaning the bearing may help a bit as well.
But really time is all it needs.
Just to be sure, untwist the halves, and then give the bearing a flick–it should spin freely for at least a few seconds. If it doesn’t, your bearing could be bad or need a cleaning, which shouldn’t occur with a brand new yoyo but it’s possible.
