DTTech Official Company Topic: Ever Wondered what Eternity was like?

Why not? xD

I donā€™t want to hype something that hasnā€™t been protoā€™d yet, it might just be a let down.

Of course

I just like showing you guys the designs

looks good, but I would move the response closer to the bearing seat, it looks pretty far.
Btw, how do you form the inner cup using chamfers? Do you start with a shell? or do you cut it out one cut at a time?

Omgosh, overcomplicate? Lol PM me and Iā€™ll tell you how you make your CAD within like 20 minutes.

Do you mean the U-Shape? What exactly are you talking about?

And, I thought about doing it, but I donā€™t see a problem w/ it being like that

learning basic CAD (IE a yoyo) is fairly easy. this in no way means the designs created in this 20 minute-30 hour design interval will produce a worthwhile yoyo

to be honest, i think CAD is normally more hurtful than helpful with younger designers. they normally end up tweaking and tweaking without a full understanding of why or how to effectively design (your mileage may vary)

i like the effort, but in the end all i think is going to happen is DTT is going to pop up new CAD designs every other week or so and set a schedule and deadline list for a company that hasnt even been born yet. i really hope to be proven wrong, but based on previous track records, i feel pretty accurate.

im not saying that it wont happen. i just think at this point the hype your attempting to generate is just annoying people at this point and i know thats not what you want.

if anyone was wondering, i normally spend a solid week or two CADing designs (i normally end up with 3 or 4), then completely shut down the CAD computer and wait for protos of the ones i want to see made most. its the best way to see what you have to work with on your design. you cant play CADs. it doesnt matter how much you play with them until you have a yoyo made in the production runs material by the machine shop that will do the production run (VERY important IMO)

take this as you want. i still want to see you make it, and intend to help in any way i realistically can. thats why im taking the time to post this.

i actually had a stint where i was sitting down and sketching some cool concepts i had for yoyos but i never went further than that becuase it was too time consuming and sounds like its more work than i want to put into something like that. Iā€™d rather just give these concepts away at this point to companies that would seem interested in a different design than the normal stuff we see in the current yoyo market. So far i have sent none out because iā€™m becoming more busy than i used to be. xD

I get exactly what you mean and just want to say I meant you basic before tweaking anything design that can be made in 20 minutes if even that. Basically he was drawing circles and extruding, not even touching his revolve tool.

Any and all designs as of right now besides the Infin8ty and the Undisclosed Habergeon are the 2 Iā€™m focusing on. All others are purely testing out Solidworks.

And, Iā€™m learning. Plus, I already said donā€™t expect a run this year. Iā€™m prototyping. The only reason I say March is:
A. My B-Day
B. I can get a job

Even then, 1 protoā€™s being made in March.

I really want input and comments on the designs, not hype. I like showing them, and like to update, so I do, but I try to stop there. I realize it seems as though Iā€™m trying to hype, but Iā€™m not trying to that much, TBH.

And, as far as CAD is concerned, like you said, itā€™s fairly easy now for me, but donā€™t count me out because Iā€™m young. I learn fast, and Iā€™m learning all I need to know. Iā€™ve got a seat file that I made, and about 15 different test designs, of which 2 are actually being worked on. The others were me learning the basics and trying to get them down.

I understand the concern, but donā€™t worry about the whole CAD thing. Iā€™ve got the 2 that Iā€™m working on. As of right now, Iā€™ve gone through 6 Infin8ty Designs, all different sizes and weights, and I havenā€™t even posted the updated yet, and donā€™t plan to.

/facepalm

Sorry -DG- but if your not expecting a run anytime soon, why even hype it? I hate to be bashing others, through it just doesnā€™t seem ā€˜rightā€™. Itā€™s not that I donā€™t believe you will get a run, I just feel there is no need to hype it when your just barely in prototyping phase.

ā€œDonā€™t count your chickens before they hatch.ā€

-Gizzyo!

whoosh!

Not trying to hype. I want input on the design more than anything.

Iā€™ve got a newly updated Infin8ty. Iā€™ll have at least one picture of it sometime this weekend.

EDIT:
Managed to finish with an updated look

I give you artwork in the first degree

Along with it is a life-sized view of the Infin8ty, produced using Photoshop and Solidworks

Enjoy.

Also, I contacted a machinist, and they can use Solidworks files, so weā€™re in luck!!!

I REALLY hate to say this, but Iā€™m going to have to remove the date for the Infin8ty Protos. There is a possibility that my mother might have eye cancer, and the treatment isnā€™t cheap, and I canā€™t get a job until March, so Iā€™m going to have to put it off.

Iā€™ll try my best and am hoping for the best, but thereā€™s no telling what could happen.

Again, Iā€™m really sorry.

Sorry to hear that, but I feel there is something that must be said. But firstā€¦ I hope everything turns out ok.

I wouldnā€™t apologize about the cancelled protos. To me, and a few other people obviously, it does seem like you are trying to hype the yoyo. You said there will only be 1-3 protos, and who knows if they need tweaking. And there is no chance of a run until next year (as you also said). 99% of us will not get to try them, so there is no point in so much information right now until you get the design absolutely perfect, and are nearing the date of the release. Iā€™d say for now, just update every so often, to keep us updated. There is no doubt that these designs have potential, but there is no need to try to force hype over something that is 11+ months awayā€¦ sorry if it seems harsh, but itā€™s just my 2 centsā€¦

these things happen. often at the most inopportune times in the world it seems. i had to push the 1st Sky Walker run back 3 times for these reasons:

1.) my first machinist attempting to rob me w/o doing the work
2.) my partner (yes, VsNYYC was at one point a two man show) bailed on me (with his 1/2 of the $$$$)
3.) i got really sick around 2009 New Year and pushed back yet againā€¦

people began to doubt VsNYYC even more (i got 50% hate 50% wait for most of the start of VsNYYC), but beyond all odds it seems i managed to splash in at BAC 2009 and drop the Sky Walker (for those that didnt know, i DID NOT fly to California from Louisiana. i DROVE 63 hours round trip for a 7 hour event.)

the rest is history. in my humble opinion VsNYYC is now up to par with 99% of the homebrew companies out there (i DID NOT say better. just on the same playing field)

this would have never been possible without support from the community and insight from many of the companies on the Thanks list, but also required TONS of dedication and patience on my part.

what im getting at is, if its meant to happen, it will. no sweat if it doesnt. the only way this becomes a problem is if you hype a product forever and then nothing ever comes of it. you may say you arent hyping, but whether you want to or not, every time that you post CADs, images, etc., you are building hype.

best of luck with your current situation and i hope everything works out for you and your family.

Thanks for the words

I never said the community wouldnā€™t have the opportunity to test them. Just not the first or second prototypes for sure.

I wouldnā€™t normally update this as of now unless I have something important, and this was something that was important.
