I know I’ve posted this before so apologies for the repetition, but I love this anodized CLYW Bassalope done in a painted style.

Is there a John Higby appreciation thread? Shouldn’t there be?

I agree :call_me_hand:, is Higby on the forums?

Apparently there’s a new OhYesYo called “The Buster” and here are a few hand painted by Coffin!

Based on the nail polish example above I decided to bust out some experiments… I got my wife these crazy super glittery “Super Black” nail polishes a while ago… time to try them out on cups of a test yo-yo!

Turns out it’s actually a yoyo by Andrew Vargas of Winging it Yoyos haha, Coffin just painted those for him. Also, I’m curious about using an epoxy based model paint, should be a fair bit more durable than your standard enamel.

OK so here’s the result of glitter nail polish in the cups, after drying overnight.

The darker color came out a bit better, it looks a little like a geode.

Bad news though, it’s impossible to apply nail polish evenly (or at least I could not) and it adds a LOT of vibe. Like … a lot a lot. Good thing I have all this acetone for bearing cleaning, aka “nail polish remover” :nail_care:

So I’d call this a failed experiment
